Any word on how this library is funded? I didn't see anything saying that the University is paying for it. And if so, I don't see anything about what percentage of the funding comes from public tax-paid funds. That's but one revenue source for public universities.
Mr. AC never denied the existence of God. Accepting God is different from accepting Evolution. Your point still stands. We can still successfully make high-tech crap while still believing things that are not necessarily true (or even logical).
Lying back and taking it is certainly an option. Please Enjoy!
In the meantime, I'll argue that it's those demands that keep the thieves on their toes. They pit the thieves against other thieves that will happily swoop in and steal their sweet gig.
The demands you make on the despicably thieving government are precisely what prevents it from being a despicably thieving, rampantly fascist government.
No. HTTP is supposed to be stateless. WWW just makes liberal use of HTTP. Every HTTP request should be made in isolation. WWW can still be stateful while sticking to this convention.
"We found that 11 percent of people in fibromyalgia drug trials who were taking fake medication dropped out of the studies because of side effects like dizziness or nausea". Aren't these also symptoms that fibromyalgia victims suffer? Could the participant merely be confusing a "side effect" with "fake pill simply not working"?
What would be the effect of restricting a patent holder from initiating litigation to infringements made prior to the acquisition of the patent? This would leave many issues inherent in patents unsolved. But, because it's so simple, would be an easy barrier to put in place, and hopefully lower the benefit/cost of patent trolling.
This would have required Nokia to initiate litigation vs. Research in Motion prior to selling the the patent to Vringo. This would certainly affect their image. If they were not concerned about this, they might have pursued a case v. RIM themselves, or at least outsourced it.
Vringo could immediately demand that Research in Motion cease any ongoing infringement. But R.I.M could then simply cease infringement, and Vringo would get no return on their patent acquisition. Vringo could also demand liscensing fees for ongoing RIM use of the patented tech... R.I.M could decline, or contest the patent, making the prospect of buying patents for the purpose of Trolling less alluring.
It's possible to design a Soduku that is ambiguous; meaning, there is more that one acceptible answer. I image that such a puzzle could be considered "infinitely hard". But, could such a puzzle be considered a Soduku? Does the definition of a Soduku require that it only have one answer?
It's a great idea, but check with your company's policies first. Arguably, whatever data is on that machine belongs to them. You may be destroying their property.
In most companies, wiping the machine won't get you into any trouble. But if you are a contractor for say, a Government contractor, you could be getting yourself in hot water. My advice is, yes, wipe it if you can. But, be sure it's not going to land you in any hot water first.
That being said... an IT guy at my last job (small company) let me take home a computer that was being replaced. It was a coworker's old desktop and hadn't been wiped. I went ahead and wiped it, but I'm sure that's not always the case.
I thought the same think. Arguably, even worse than making a "joke" is the fact that the offender is simply being punished with another form of harassment. Clearly, this sends the wrong message about harassment.
By planning, writing specs, and creating documentation, you are not necessarily throwing away the ability to develop in iterations.
The onus here is on Project management to translate Marketing's designs into wire frames and requirements so a prototype can be created. If Marketing cannot see through the fast version that has yet to get any bells and whistles, the issue is with Marketing or perhaps the Project Managers.
So. If you're a DirectTV customer, this doesn't mean that you shouldn't demand DirectTV make up for the lower value of the the service you are paying for. They should either lower their rates since they are no longer paying Viacom or add value for you.
I also enjoyed Mandrake for quite a stretch. At some point, they started littering the install process, and then the desktop with ads. I respect the need for a revenue model, but I feel the experience was too intrusive. There were plenty of alternatives, so I jumped ship.
The problem with even just keeping your facebook ID is that anyone you are friends with can now tag you in a post, and you cannot remove the tag without de-friending them. You can still untag photos. Who knows how long that will be the case.
Point understood, but... do you infer that Google's staff is mostly comprised of Google-Docs developers? Again, I agree with your sentiment, just not the delivery.
I may be okay with this. Distributed stupidity could be a lot more troublesome. It's much easier to keep your house in order if you only have to keep your eye on one drunken uncle at Christmas time.
This. I mean, you could argue that even passwords are, in a way, security through obscurity.
Oh. And also.. I just fed a troll. I feel dirty.

If that meant "we" owned the infrastructure, not the media companies. One requirement would HAVE to be net neutrality.
"...Oh.. and because this is Google... you also need a PHD in Physics"
But, somehow you wet able to justify buying 22 games you have yet to play...
"my buddy"
So, did you end up paying?

It was called the iPad Nano. Mine can make phone calls.
Some of my fattest clients have the deepest pockets. They're the ones who keep food on BOTH of our tables.

... annnnd immediately upon launch, the project was added to the Endangered Projects Project.
Great idea, but how long will it be supported? Sadly, I think it will share a fate with Google Health.

Maybe that work could be given to browsers?
If a page used these resources:
http://static1.js.cdn.com/resource1.js
http://static2.js.cdn.com/resource2.js
http://static3.css.cdn.com/resource3.css
perhaps the browser could automatically look for some file, the way it does with favicon:
http://static1.js.cdn.com/spdy.txt
That would pass back a file containing a spdy domain to use?
spdy.cdn.com
It would mean more requests on a single page load, I guess. But they could be cached.
