Generating income? This is income that is rightfully theirs. And you know what? They need our help. So let's take these Microsoft classes so we can get the basic computer skills necessary to help them transfer the funds out of their Human-Rights-Abusing nation.
Ahhh.. silly me. It's a toolbar to help Java start more quickly. Anyone find this valuable? Is there a yes/no toggle: "Start quickly, don't start quickly?"
If you encounter a java applet does a popup ask you... "would you like this to start quickly"? Can I disable it from starting quickly? HELP.. java is starting too quickly.
Or so says Sun. That being said... I cannot think of one thing I might need a Java tool bar for. Honestly, I have not read the article yet and am sitting here trying to think of one useful thing such a tool might do for me. Anyone?
I agree this is a great concern. The article would do well to cite these promises, though. I do recall these being brought up, but it would be nice to post the evidence. Anyone have a link to support for these claims? So far I've found this:
>>> It will be broadcast without editing or translation.".. because for a second there, I thought you were going to give me some watered down version compared to what I could get if I took a crash course in ruddy SWEDISH!
What is the purpose of the "read out loud" right? Because reading out loud would be an interpretation and infringe on the art? What about a monotone voice, like text to speech?
What happens, however when the tech gets so good that it can read with emotion.. better yet, mimick the voice of any person we choose? Do the rules then change?
A point I forgot to mention is that a rational price bound to cost is important. While MS is free to charge what they want... and non-monopolistic company would be careful in doing so because when a feature has zero cost, the second there is a charge for it a competitor can charge less until the price drops to zero and is just an "assumed feature". This is in a way evidence of Monopolistic practices. I just don't see this happening. There's no way it will stick around. To many "reasons not to". Unless as I've stated before, the limitation does have a concrete impact on cost.
What is the extra cost to MS for allowing users run more apps? What is the cost savings for restricting to two? Unless there is something significant here... the pricing structure is just silly.
Can I just write a meta app that runs multiple apps beneath it? I'm sure it's not as easy as it sounds... but I'd expect to see some pretty clever work arounds.
Microsoft DOES want people to like their product, don't they?
What does this model say for Memory Leaks? If the state is persisted... rebooting won't clear the memory. I imagine there must be a "reset state" mechanism. Perhaps this can be done without actually rebooting. I dunno.
And someone is running that software? I didn't agree to any EULA. I am not using the software. Those data packets are mine! I can monitor them all I want.
If the mere act of this man taking a job with a start up is enough to make front page Slashdot news... and you call that being a loser. I want to be upgraded to a loser! Where do I sign up?
Agreed. Of course, the next step will be for the malware creator to obscure themselves from the "flier" person. Easy enough, I suppose. Malware provider pays via paypal and has an anonymous scout verifying that the "flier person" is actually doing their job. The person putting the fliers may not even know that what they are doing is bad.
Not only would we have to make sure people understand the choices, but we should let them know why they should actually CARE.
I can imagine someone who simply doesn't care... setting up their computer. They are prompted.. and all they will see is:
Choose one:
Microsoft Internet Explorer
Choose this to install the Internet
Firefox
Choose this to also install the Internet
This is an important choice. Both will allow you to do email and porn.

Deep breath.
Please discuss!
Sounds like a great idea for an extension!

But in QA they decided they were to buggy.
That's like... more bits than all the atoms in the UNIVERSE! Logically, we should be able to back up precisely on Universe on each device.
is for NERDS....
And I don't get a lick of it. I started to RTFA but then I started to nod off and drool.
This sounds fascinating... sooooo anyone care to offer an explanation? Pictures are welcome... and metaphor encouraged!
So does this mean my boss(es) will let me stop fussing over IE6? PLEASE?!?!?!
Not so much, I'm sure.
This is designed to get people off of their couch and out shopping!

Your phone number and address specify where you live. Your IP address in an apache log specifies:
Where you were at what time and what you were doing.
Big difference.
Yes, my home address might be public info (arguably).. but what I am doing inside is NOT!
Will they install windows?

I thought everyone new that due to the advent of Internet and Google (docs, mail, etc) *ALL* Paper Mills were Finnished.

Does that mean they cannot charge me? Sweet.
These lawyers have a vested interest in keeping this war going as long as possible.
The soldiers of Bush's war probably want to go home and see their family.
And someone is running that software? I didn't agree to any EULA. I am not using the software. Those data packets are mine! I can monitor them all I want.
Is this correct?
HA!

If I wanted to buy licenses to a piece of software for my dev team, half of whom run linux, this would certainly be a selling point.
