I was curious if my web server at home would be impacted. Needless to say when I got home I had a pretty full access_log with quite a bit of the .ida attacks. Take digital television, for instance. All broadcasters must carry it by 2006, but are consumers really demanding this sort of "advanced" picture capacity yet? No

Actually, speak for yourself. People with money have them. I bought a digital TV a little over a year ago. Many people I know are just waiting for the broadcasts to be there before they make the jump.

I think part of the problem is the cable/satellite companies aren't quite ready to carry the signal. I had a person at AT&T Broadband tell me they had no immediate plans to carry HDTV because of bandwidth concerns. They say they would have to sacrifice other channels to bring me the HDTV version of HBO. I for one wouldn't mind giving up a few shopping channels and all those digital music channels. Sooner or later they will have to make that switch. The sooner they do, the more sets will sell. My main drive for buying a digital TV is I wanted a wide screen, good quality picture when watching DVD's. Unfortunately I have yet to see the TV at it's fullest potential.

I know neither of you but would have to take the side that you don't know what goes on in a police department unless you're part of that department. You don't know if someone is a good cop or a bad cop unless you ride with that cop and then you probably still don't know 100%. My neighbor is a cop. He seems like a nice guy. But I have no idea if he is a good cop or a bad cop. I once worked with a woman who's husband was a cop. He seemed like a nice guy too. He's not a cop anymore as he participated in the rape of a woman during a traffic stop. We were all shocked when it happened. He seemed like such a nice guy. I guess you can't really know a person and I think that was the other poster's point.

Now the comment on the wife was uncalled for and immature. You could have just as easily said that you think you know your friends and your cousin well enough to make that judgement and still got your last word.

Maybe not for excluding IE users, but for a good example how an Apache mod works. Good job to the authors.

Note: I happen to have Netscape on my RedHat box. I use it when I have to (ie download a file) but as for surfing I use IE on a Windows box. Why? Nothing sucks more than moving the browser window or resizing it and watching the goddamn page reload. Or not being able to handle a redirect back to a dynmically generated page. Or displaying no page when a careless web developer forgets to close a TD tag. There are many areas where Netscape really stinks it up. This may have been fixed in Mozilla.
