  1. 5 cents for what? on Embracing Digital Photography · · Score: 1
How can they charge $0.05 for a photo to be sent to a company for printing? The way I read it is this charge is billed to the end user. Or is this 5 cents built in to some fees that the companies pay Microsoft to list them in their software?

If it is the first, what is to keep M$ from charging me to print to my HP printer or save a document? This just sounds really wack to me. Next M$ will send me a bill for posting on /.

Of course this isn't the issue here. *slap* Bad Microsoft. But we are talking about beta software here. I am quite sure it will be fixed.

I think the best slot and the worst slot for a TV show is following the NFL on Sunday. It's great when the games end on time but it sucks when there is overtime and they end up joining it in progress or skip it all together.

I have the Creative MPEG2 decoder as well as an ATI Rage 128 Pro with the TV Wonder. The reason it does a much better job than the ATI card is because it is dedicated to doing that and is hardware. The ATI card is mainly software decoding and requires much more horsepower. Most of the DVD decoders you see now are sotware based because processors are more powerful than they were a few years back. You just cant serve http requests and watch a DVD with them. :)

You can check with DirectTV to see if they are licensed to do business in Canada. They are not. Since they are not, it is not illegal to steal the signal in Canada. The problem is when the theft crosses into the US. When Americans get the pirated H cards from Canada or connect to these public servers, they will be breaking the law. The only problem is how do you stop the people from using the public servers? In order to prove they are doing it, you'd have to capture their packets to prove it. That alone is going to throw up all kinds of red flags with privacy advocates.

This won't stop 100% of the cheating, but I believe not showing or ranking individual stats might cut it back some.

You're not going to enjoy anything if you're scanning it for flaws.
