The Plan:
1) Triple the tuition for traditional students (i.e. nerdy males).
2) Give full scholarships to nontraditional students (i.e. attractive females).
3) Allow nontraditional students to earn extra credit by pretending to be interested in traditional students.
4) Profit!
What kind of food comes in plastic wrap?
All the good stuff comes in cans, well except for dinners. They come in a little tray you can stick in the microwave.
You bring up an interesting point.
It seems like someone ought to be able to use a water turbine to generate electricity which would be used to pump the water back up behind the turbine. It could all be done in a big factory or power station without impacting the environment.
It would be a really green source of energy.
Why don't they just funnel the emitted light back to the solar panels and thus make them independent of an external light source?
This would be great for space colonies and sea-floor dwellings.
The real issue is that the meat industry in the U.S. alone produces 15% of the WORLD'S green house gases, which is much more than the entire world's transportation.
Your problem with this issue is easily solved: Just stop caring about greenhouse gases and go out for a nice steak. Problem solved.
What's good for animals is being domesticated by people.
One of the primary reasons people domesticate animals is for food.
Being eaten by people is good for animals.
Good to know.
These look like dead-pixel rejects, but the first LCD monitor I bought was back in the dead-pixel-expected days, and it (and it's two factory dead pixels) is still in use.
So if saving $500 is worth a few dead pixels, then you've got a bargain.
well, they did kill millions of jews and destroy a large chunk of europe in the pursuit of "a stronger economy", so this news should not come as a surprise
You expect to just download it and see the details for free?
It's a journal article, for crying out loud, not a first run, major studio, feature film!
I don't get the part about testing the waters with women. I didn't know they were any good for that.
Good job.
Now you'll be sure to get the raise.
FaceBing: It should have happened :-(
What skill is more valuable for the practical man working in the computer field than expertise in slashdot multi refresh and first post technology?
Thanks for the review Mr. Shuttleworth!
Of course you'll still pirate them all, but you'll want to buy them, which makes it ok.
I guess I should have known better than to post something that would cause 90% of slashdot readers to vividly relive very painful memories.

Hotmail sent a message containing a malicious link to all of his contacts
It seems to me that it was convincingly demonstrated that Hotmail has a few features that Gmail lacks.
Good job Microsoft!

Von Amerika lernen heißt siegen lernen.
You aren't counting the crusty little bread rolls.

Wrong, wrong wrong wrong wrong!
They did it for "living space".
Only a brown would mod me down.
Germany is only 80M ppl.
Germany is the third richest country in the world.
Well that's only if you count crusty little bread rolls as wealth.
Come on, everyone knows that the true name of the E.U. is "Scheinheiliges Römisches Reich Deutscher Nation"
They don't need to go that far. They can just make it so that no matter what video you click on you get rickrolled.
The research confirms for the first time that replication, heredity and evolution can take place in artificial DNA-like molecules.
That is pretty impressive. Up til now I was firmly of the opinion that chemistry only worked properly in natural molecules.
