That Dune miniseries was crap. Jeebas! Okay, it was long but that does not signify depth. Dune, the novel, was deep. Dune, the miniseries, was an excuse to wear silly costumes!
Wow what a wonderful display of your elistism. How does Mommy "sacrafice" for her child in the real-world, pray tell? By giving up that second job at the Kmart...or by deciding to work part-time at the firm while little jr. flounders around with the nanny? In this world (especially with the downturn in the economy) "real" people do not always have the economic ability to spend enough minutes with their child (even good children can turn a tv on all by themselves by the time they are 2, 3, 4...etc.). It can be helpful...not just for little children but also for teens...to be able to insert a v-chip into a device and program out unsuitable programming from entering your child's brain. This is not bad parenting...just a helpful device.
those evil corporations are responsible for helping to establish the internet and for making it accessible to almost everyone (access to computers for the poor is still at issue)... and not just for the geekeesh. it's asinine to always refer to corporations as evil...even the dreaded robo-Gates has set up a foundation that is only the largest single charitable endowment ever. geezus h. christmas! you'd think that the only holy people on the earth were gnu-ers
Why doesn't anyone seem to know that 2001 was a colaboration between Clarke and Kubrick on a screenplay...which then Clarke turned into a novel? This is elementary kids!
You have, obviously, never read Dune. The Lynch film was honest to the book and beautifully filmed. The Sci-Fi mini was a brutal farce. OSC shouldn't bother trying to squeeze Ender into a film. Another arrogant grab at the bucks. He's a hack anyway...

THE MATRIX was a formulaic action film with a futuristic gloss--in other words, it was nearly indistinguishable, except in production quality, from half of the films calling themselves "sci-fi", at least as far back as TOTAL RECALL

John Harrison should be taken out back and whipped with a switch. I've heard people say that his version (fabrication) of Dune was better than Lynch's. BS. No way! Hasn't anyone noticed that Harrison's version is NOTHING like the book. It's a complete fabrication. Now he gets the right to destroy Children of Dune and Dune Messiah! Unbelievable. People...this version sucked. Let's all admit it!
