I'd put in a vote for subversion over CVS because of the improvements. There is a great GUI app called tortoisesvn for Windows that works very well. You have to setup a subversion server though...
I'm not sure what you're getting all wound up about. It seems valid to me. Asia will lead. What's wrong with that. Asia will lead [the way]. Does that make it better? If it were Asia will have lead (should be led) you'd have a point.
IIRC the rules goes something like this. Nintendo is a company that has a board made up of people. In this case, you refer to Nintendo as if it were a plural. So, Nintendo are making games. Unless, as the OP stated, the person is referring to Nintendo as a single entity.
The problem is, you never really know what the person's intent was and Nintendo are sounds dumb either way.
Today's cars have seat belts, air bags, traction control, electronic stability control, cd players, navigation systems, satellite radio and steering wheel controls. They last longer, run smoother, require less maintenance, are safer and handle better.
Much like how today's computers can do so much more and hardly break a sweat.
I believe this comparison is valid. You could do the same comparison with cars and the amount of power they produce. In the early 90's, a 200HP car would be pretty quick but today, a 200HP car isn't all that great because the car carries all that extra baggage I listed above, making the whole thing heavier. There fore, the cars of today are hardly better at their core function than they were years ago. But this of course ignores all of the advances made in handling and everything else.
Windows is NOT that expensive if you go with an OEM copy available at some online retailers such as http://mwave.com./ I picked up business edition for around $130. You are however limited to installing that copy on ONE computer and you cannot move it from one machine to the next.
...I can run the frontend on my laptop and watch live and recorded TV anywhere in my house. I don't yet use Myth for anything but TV using an 8 year old Hauppauge card but for me, the flexibility of the software is what wins me over. My only gripe is the default keyboard bindings don't make the most sense at first.
As always, it depends on what you do. I've never been able to use just 512MB and my systems have always had 1GB. After SP2 and Adobe's CS2, I had to bump the ram on my work PC to 1.5GB. Since I never run CS2 at home, I left it 1GB. I would guess that, if you were happy with 512MB on XP that 1-1.25GB on Vista is going to work ok for you.
too bad a lot of companies appear to do this. Samsung had an old 19" CRT monitor at one point where the controls would slide in and out of the casing. After awhile, that feature among others went away, but the model name never changed. They were now selling a lesser model that had the same name as the one that reviewed so well. I think it's a common practice.
a T1 is quite slow in comparison to what most people get for broadband speeds. ~1.5mbs vs the 3mb+ that other people get. Though a T1 would be 1.5 up and down and latency is much lower, but low latency isn't going to get that movie to you any quicker.
It'll come back. Same thing happened to me. I got married and then poof, 4 years later and I'm drooling over the new systems. I even managed to finally snag a Wii today. I've played more games in the last 4 months than I did in the 4 years prior to getting back into gaming.
No, it's not. You'd be surprised to know just how many developers run MSSQL on their local box if they're doing work that requires an SQL server. Also, I would think that if MSSQL won't run, then neither will the MSDE. This is a problem because they've released the business version and business users are the most likely to need MSSQL 2005 to run on their machines.
They say one of the benefits of doing this is updating older systems because of the worms spreading the internet. Does anyone who is working with a windows system and needing to install updates (and one who knows how) even directly connect any computer to the internet? In this day and age, I'd bet that nearly everyone is behind a firewall already.

I'd generally agree with you but my $30 toaster still sucks.
This is only ATSC, or over the air, and it's not always reliable. Also, it doesn't go all that far in advance so there is limited value there.

Not sure where you live but I can find more than A cow grazing in a field in under 20 minutes.

Probably for the same reasons these people also take smoke breaks and that it's "ok."
I think I know why none of your kids made-in-China toys fit together...

In other news, Britney Spears has lost control due to a drop in the Red Hat fans. http://google.com/trends?q=ubuntu%2Credhat%2Cspear s&ctab=0&geo=all&date=all

5, 4, 3....wait...dude...what are we counting for?

I'll take vendor lock-in for $600
Sounds like you have bad ram, to me anyway.

I'm surprised so many people are complaining about ads in the days of adblock and adblock plus. I hardly ever see ads.

I believe many of those keypads are still wireless so that doesn't necessarily work either.
