It is not stupid by any means, the system stores information all over the place. It would be to hard to try and encrypt each one by itself. It is far easier to just encrypt the whole thing. You would be surprised how little of a hit you take in performance. I used TrueCrypt for a good while and I never notices any slow down at all. Encryption like AES are extremely fast.
System encryption provides the highest level of security and privacy, because all files, including any temporary files that Windows and applications create on the system partition (typically, without your knowledge or consent), hibernation files, swap files, etc., are always permanently encrypted (even when power supply is suddenly interrupted). Windows also records large amounts of potentially sensitive data, such as the names and locations of files you open, applications you run, etc. All such log files and registry entries are always permanently encrypted too.
We understand what he means, but if you did not read the update here you go
This doesn’t mean that your password has been shortened. Actually, Windows Live ID passwords were always limited to 16 characters—any additional password characters were ignored by the sign-in process. When we changed “Windows Live ID” to “Microsoft account,” we also updated the sign-in page to let you know that only the first 16 characters of your password are necessary. To avoid this error message in the future, you only need to enter the first 16 characters of your password.
Wrong, there is one thing I can do. Leave, I have had it with all this charges they keep giving me. We have had nothing but trouble with their service. It is time to go back to prepaid!
That is the funny thing, The people who actually paid for games are the only ones who are getting punished for piracy. The people who pirated the games don't have to deal with DRM, rootkits, always on connection requirements,...etc.
Agreed, from what I have gathered this is nothing more than a backdoor. Creating a backdoor is only one part of a rootkit.
Here is a good definitions of a rootkit form The rootkit Arsenal: Escape and Evasion in the Dark Corners of the System. ISBN-10: 144962636X
"A rootkit establishes a remote interface on a machine that allows the system to be manipulated (e.g., C2) and data to be collected (e.g., surveillance) in a manner that is difficult to observe (e.g., concealment)."
This is not trying to hide anything, it's just a plugin with a backdoor.
Mint will be you best bet. It comes with almost everything they will need including Flash Player last time I check.
Dumping them right into Linux may not be the best idea. Start off by having them use some of Linux's application on Windows first, like LibreOffice, Firefox or chrome. Many of the application on Linux are ported to Windows. By having them use them on Windows first they will be much more at home when they make the switch.
It may just be the statistics of just that web site that only technically people go to, but this is an all time low for them. This kind of drop in market shares is showing up on other sites that keep track.
I hope it god it continues to drop, because IE has been a nightmare for web developers!!!
Most people who use IE (at least the people I know) only use it because they just go for what ever the default is. This means they also go with IE's default settings which is MSN and BING, and this do make MS money.
When it comes to cable internet, in my area we only have Time Warner. I hate them with all my hart, they charge out the ass for crappy speeds. I know some people who are play they same amount as I am and have 4 to 5 times the speed.
I have Time Warner and I used to use their DNS, but I had trouble with them not resolve some IP addresses. I switch to Google DNS and now I have had no trouble at all.
Well that sucks, but good to know.
It is not completely open, you can set you tweets to private and only approved people can view them.
although I still prefer yum to apt-get...
I much prefer pacman to any of them
