    actually joe sixpack couldnt do that, and still cant. its become easiey, definately, but most people dont encode music, most people copy/download other peoples music. which they downloaded from someone else. occasionally i do meet someone that encodes cds, but its no the joe sixpack

    i always liked the idea of a paperless office, but it kind of had the reverse effect. Instead of printing one copy because it was expensive/hard. people print 20 copies, which usually end up in the garbage (or recycled in theory). my boss wants job orders printed out so he can sign it physically so someone else can check it off electronically instead of him just checking it off in the software. of course he also schedules people to schedule a meeting for him too. so wahtever

    the patent process takes the assumption that only one person/entity can come up with an orginal idea. 2 people were developing the telephone, bell patented it mere hours before the other guy. patents are not the best solution in the world to protecting people's ideas. what does deserve a patent? think about it, i come up with an idea, i patent it, you come up with the same idea independantly, your out of luck

    because the only way to make money nowadays is with patents, you cant actually make a product, noooo you have to rape your potential competitors.

    testify. the olympic games is a joke. the performance enhancing drugs that dont even have a name yet, the bribes, the dictatorship control of the board. the olympic games is the perfect example of everything that is wrong with the world. it hasnt been about national pride in years. its about packing advertisements everwhere, bending rules, etc.

    that always has been common practice for the olympics, (not saying its okay) so its not just a salt lake city problem. also what is the problem with having a dozen wives? in the moral sense it may be wrong (i personally dont care if someone else does it) but why is it legally wrong? where does it supposidly harm society etc? stop pushing your personal morals onto others that dont want them

    Actually that teen got to keep a huge amount of money though, last i heard. It was after the courts fined him, he still had several hundred thousand dollars left.
