Yet MS still faces the challenge of all the businesses who are still using Win XP. My employer has tens of thousands of systems running XP, and is just now trickling out Win 7 systems. It would take a year of hard work to internally certify Win 8 -- and for what benefit? Prematurely killing off Win 7 could be a horrendous mistake.
I find it interesting that the TSA has caught more thieves (within their own ranks) than terrorists.
It seems like you hear about "airport personnel" (i.e. TSA employees) who would use their searches to locate and remove valuables from passenger luggage.
However, I have yet to hear about a single terrorist caught by the TSA.
It looks to me like the TSA is committing more criminal activity than they are preventing.
I blame this whole thing more on Napolitano than on Obama, and I am no fan of Obama.
I also think the parent (quoted) has been unfairly modded down -- it was the closest thing to a discussion item so far in this thread.
I believe storing consumer credit/debit card data over 90 days is a direct violation of Visa International rules. I've been away for that stuff for a couple of years now, so I could be wrong.
"...but in this case, damage to the neck vertebrae is consistent with a hanging."
I'll have to dig out the old family trees and see if it is a relative. Knowing my family lines, it probably is.
Perfect! Wonder how many read/. readers even know what you are referencing. You may have to submit an 8x10 glossy photo with circles and arrow and a paragraph on the back explaining the nature of the crime.
Didn't that get attempted once, and IIR, TSA shut down the scanners for the day so no one could refuse.
They then claimed victory because on one complained.
Like any political organization, TSA will only respond to pressure. The more points of pressure, the better. The petition is one point of pressure, the EPIC court petition is another. Letters to individual congress-critters would also help. Just keep up the pressure.
I first thought this should be a UN initiative, but then quickly came to my senses as the UN would try and turn it into a revenue stream for themselves.
The source quoted by the OP is actually incorrect. The aircraft, a regional jet with only 35 passengers, was parked when the incident happened. It sunk several inches while not moving. The tug was unable to pull it out of where it had sunk. A larget tug was brought in, it was pulled out, started its engines and continued with the flight.

I refurbish old PCs and, working with the Knights of Columbus, donate them to needy families with kids who will benefit from having a functional PC, even if it is 6-8 years old.
Free software is incredible valuable, as these are families that don't have $150 for productivity software, or $75 for antivirus. I load these systems with Open Office, Avast, Chrome, Picasa, and similar packages. No adware, no trialware, just good, functional software.
The only downside is that one High School deducted 15 points from a student's paper because it was not submitted in Word 7 format. Ugh!

AC should have credited Arlo Guthrie and the anti-war ballad Alice's Restaurant.

.....one can safely bet that it will work for D's (dead or alive) but not for R's.
All the better.

Congratulations to Microsoft!
Now we know at least one thing Windows 8 will run on. Woo Hoo.
Why not just launch the woefully underutilized Maytag Repairman (and his dog) into space?
This was a real Gomer Pyle moment the bottom feeders.
It's the American way! :)
For the humor impaired -- I know the difference between the US and Canada.
...and given its European origins, would it be made by Catbus Industries?
...the system clock ran 63 times faster than normal? If so, does an hour-long test take slightly less than a minute?
...would make good beta testers.
I used to list University of South Vietnam, School of Combat Operations on my resume.
I know where they can get a slightly used server....probably for pennies on the dollar.
No one jumped out and shouted "Smile, you're on Candid Camera!"
With a plagiarism rap under her belt, a vice presidency cannot be far away. The perfect career move.
The NY Times has been thoroughly debunked as an unbiased source of news. They are simply, predictably, following their own political agenda.
I suppose this is all necessary at some level that I can't pretend to understand. Nonetheless, I find it all quite tiring.
