Companies have done that. They were called "Dead Peasant" insurance. Wal-Mart would take out a million dollar policy on a cashier or stocker and cash in if they happened to die young. And of course the family gets nothing. Supposedly, some companies still do it.
You frequently hear the right wing "fact" that the government can't create jobs. This is false, as an example Warner Robins Air Force Base in middle Georgia is the single largest employer in the state of Georgia.
You also hear about the benefits of investing in the stock market. All that Wall Street can do is make money.
What do both of these have in common? Neither one of them actually create wealth. The government can create jobs but not wealth. Wall Street makes money but in the end it doesn't create wealth either. This is our new "business" model. We don't have any real industry left so all we do now is create money from reshuffling and hiding our old debt.
A storm is coming. 2008 was just a warning but we didn't listen. We bailed out Wall Street and now they are back to business as usual.
Lie cheat and most importantly steal. It's the Chinese motto. Of course they likely learned it from us. The irony is that they have probably become better at it that we ever were. It's sad that we maintain trade relations with such an openly dishonest country.
The right wingers are gonna be all over this one. After all any time anything Obama fails at is good for America. It must be nice that we have someone who's fault everything is.
I find it funny that they are trying to bury a script for a TV show that got cancelled decades ago. If they really, truly cared then they should use the material, not let it sit in some moldy file cabinet never to be seen.
And don't give me the line about the new Trek movies. The movie is nice but 1) it's been 3 years and they are just starting filming on a retread of an old movie and 2) Trek has always been at it's best on TV as a series. The current trilogy is a dead end for the franchise.
It's time for the "Big E" to go. As a former carrier sailor I can attest to this. Lately this ship has been spending spends just as much time or possible more in the yard after every cruise. The time in the yard has been incrementally longer and longer as it's gotten older. As much of a rustbucket as the Enterprise was it was a lot more dependable than the Kitty Hawk and the JFK (thankfully both decommissioned).
Uh-huh.....they're going to sink a nuclear powered carrier in the middle of one of the most strategic waterways in the world....not to mention one of the most shallow.
There has been some discussion that fair skinned people in general suffer from this phenomenon. I say suffer because while having a high pain tolerance might be cool it makes it a lot harder to anesthetize people like this. This is double so for fair skinned redheads (which many are). I've seen this personally as I am fair skinned. I don't have the increased pain tolerance or the red hair but I am harder to anesthetize, locals have been difficult because I typically need more than normal sometimes. What the researchers should do next is look into the instance for people who have supposedly "woke up" during surgery being paralyzed yet still feeling the intense pain of surgery in progress.
Sadly, PC gaming is on it's deathbed. Even if this were implemented it would still not save the PC as a platform.
The hardware specs do look good but I also don't see them putting together a console from these parts that has all of the stability you would expect from a console.
Finally, we already have Xbox Live. How do you compete with that? When it comes to web presence Microsoft nailed it and everyone else has been playing catchup ever since.
There is a documentary out there about the EV1 the last attempt at an electric car. Its sad the way it ended. The vehicles were all leased and one day GM collected all of them and destroyed all but one that was put in a museum with it's engine de-activated. There were a lot of people, many celebrities that loved this car. Many were angry after it's passing.
The question is what is wrong with the Volt? The Volt is leaps ahead of the EV1 in every way. I personally think it's the lack of charging stations. If there were as many charging stations as gas stations it would be a different story.
This message brought to you by an Anonymous Coward. As opposed to Mitt Romney who is a well known coward.
It probably causes cancer.
All they have to do is find a way to hook it up to the US Congress. That's an unlimited supply of hot air just waiting to be tapped.

The Mississippi Gulf Coast was ignored in the aftermath of Katrina because of New Orleans, even though Bay St Louis is where the eye came ashore.
Only an Anonymous Coward would endorse Mitt Romney.

But that might offend the job creators. And everyone knows that doubting their words makes you a commie socialist.

Yeah...too bad you don't like having a profile so you're gonna get one anyway. You're gonna take it and you're going to like it.

This is what proxies and VPNs are for.
Working as intended...
Evan Socrates noted that youth was wasted on the young.
