but I dont understand why the shift from industrial research to university research is necessarily a bad thing?
most of the newest and brightest ideas are coming from the younger generation who is more able to "think outside the box." I mean just look at the ideas from the previous story on high school kids. these kids are obviously not going directly into a company braintrust but to a university.
this question is aimed at satisfying the linux newbie.
What features do you feel are most important/would convince a newbie to make ReiserFS the system to use as compared to the many other alternatives (XFS,EXT3,etc...) out there?
having worked as a plumber for a few years I can assure you the waste lines where I saw the buildup most prevalent were made of Cast Iron. the metal on the inside generally is more prone to gathering buildup, besides which they're much more difficult to repair should there be a problem. PVC while not as long lasting is a better solution as its easy to keep free of debris, and to clean and replace.
Notice this author seems to be complaining more about the lesson plans not the classes with very specific reasons. So let me break down where I see his mistakes.
Finance is not designed to teach you how to run a business and pay your subordinates, for that you need Accounting and a Business Management class not a finance class.
Systems Analysis is designed to teach you how to approach a problem in an orderly fashion. Whether this takes you 3 hours or 3 minutes doesnt matter. The skills taught in this class will enable you to design the requirements for your program when you have nothing to begin with. It is not only in a school where your programming time will be less than your planning time. A good real world project may take 2 or 3 days of needs assesment and organizing it down to a basic requirements list from which you can code.
As far as the MIS class goes, it just sounds as if your teacher is suffering from a case of a lousy lesson plan. Does your teacher actually have any real world experience regarding the subject he's teaching? Or is this yet another entirely book learned teacher?
Basically what your going thru now is learning how to deal with mismanagement something you will need to get used to in the real world. If you cant learn to deal with lusers and phb types change career fields now.
I thought license agreements that are agreed to with the opening of the package were only enforceable in a couple of states? Can someone more familiar with this fill me in?
Case in point I worked as an Asst. Manager at my local McDonalds the summer of my 11th grade year. made 2500$ more than my teacher's full yearly salary in 5 months.
