since the subject is getting power from every day activities, how about a shoe that generate energy as you walk? I bet this would generate much more energy then a keyboard.
IMHO the keyborad is the last piece of generating energy, for computer use I think that maybe a mouse or a joystick would generate more energy then the keyboard it self, I could be wrong.

The fighting scenes are made to look great and realist. If it were the other way (realist/looks) I would try to agree with you. But I realy don't think that a shot with leo and morpheus "hugging" each other for "hours" in the floor would look great or be thrilling like the "aerobics" did look.
One of the great achievements of this movies were the "look and feel". The fighting scenes were very beautiful and the shootings with the bullet capsules raining were simply unbeliveblely beatiful. The fact that it were realistic, in the sense that actual fighting technics were used, just add points to the movie, but if there weren't any technic at all it would still look great and would still be an achievement. (atention this is my opinion only)
I hope they keep doing the good work in the sequence. Can't wait.:-):-) -- "take the red pill and you stay in wonderland and I'll show you how deep the rabitt hole goes"
I don't think so, if you can hear the music in your sound-card you can copy it. It may be hard, but in the end the program has to send raw sound bit to the sound driver (or even worst to the sound card) and that when you could capture and copy. Capturing raw bits and converting them to mp3.
If even one person has access to something then this something is crackable/stolable.

If a cracker tool can be done, I shure prefer that it's done in front of every one eyes like cDc is doing. If BO 2000 weren't created by the cDc it would probable be done by another cracker. Shure, now every kid can use it, but we know what they can do. The most dangerous tool is the one that is not visible.

Who said that? I had a 386, 16m and it ran winword 6.0 and it had all the features that 90% of the people use today of their word 97/2000. With maybe one exception that it would not keep underlining words that it don't find in it's dictionary (3 out of 4 persons that uses word that I know HATE this, I actualy like but this is because I tend to make a lot of mistakes).
I now use linux, and I hear my boss saying that he likes linux but it will not catch untill it has a office suite that is 100% compatible with M$ office. He says that people need that, and WP, SO and other word processor for linux don't render the word docs the same way that word does.
The only problem I see in this line of argument is that not even word does render 100% the same in every computer, people usualy config diferent page size then your printer, have diferent fonts then the ones installed in your computer (and shure they will use theirs "mangalo extra bold italic 13pt" font in their email).

The flight I was mentioning was the 14bis of 1906 that was capable of rising, flying and landing with his own power, and it was havier then air. To my knowledge the wright brother aircrafts had to be catapulted from the floor and could not lift up by their own.

I am risking to become a flame bait here but the united states seems to ignore a lot of inventors just to elect a american as the inventor.
Just to cite the examples I know are the aviation, the americans say that the right brothers but their plane didn't had any authonomy. Santos Dummont made a plane that he could lift-off fly arround the eifel tower and then land about the same time.
The same thing happen to movies also. There is a american and a french that inveted the cinema.

Unsubstantiated claims about linux advocates, 'most of whom have never tried to install linux' (paraphrased, because I don't want to re-read the article). How else -do- you run Linux besides installing it? Linux (mostly, barring VAResearch and a couple others) didn't come pre-installed until recently. More accurate to say Mac and Windows users haven't tried installing their favorite OS's - may not be true, but at least it's -plausible-.
This is funny, ask any windows avarege user you know if he did install his system from zero at least once? How many people did realy install windows? I would bet the only 10-20% of the windows user realy gone throw installation, and about 1-5% did install the windows in a HD that is zeroed (meaning that he needed to partion and format the HD). Why should people learn how to install linux when they don't know how to install windows now?
In fact I do think that linux installation is as dificult as windows, and in certain situations it's even easier. I had once to boot from the OS/2 disks to install windows (95 I think), since the DOS boot in the windows disks didn't find the CDrom, and I couldn't boot windows. The fact that windows has two sets of drivers (one for DOS and other for the windows itself) is a very easy notion for beginer, don't you agree?

This is one problem I see with GPL, I mean not with GPL itself but with making GPL work. how can one be shure that GPL is being respected by propietary software houses?
What I mean is if I am a company, I could simply get linux code on the web alter it and then release my proprietary software. If I don't fall in the mistake of telling people I used linux in the first place how would people would know to file a law-suite?
And I used 'linux' in my example but it could be any program at all, just do "s/linux/xxxx/" and there you are.
And this could be happening right now, how can one be 100% shure that window, OS/2, AIX or any other OS don't have some part of the linux or other GPL code hidden inside it? We don't have access to source code of those system. And how about word, excel, word-perfect and etc...?
Right now many programs could be violating the GPL and we will never know that they are. It's near impossible, if not impossible, to discover that some program used some code within it, without the access to the code itself. And even if you have access to the code, this could be very hard as there are many forms of obscuring code (mainly C).

One thing that I find particular amusing about the US law about encription software is that the US goverment comonly says that this law exist so that terrorists and drug dealers woundn't have access to this technology. Since terrorists and drug dealers are known to comit crimes, why they would obey that law???
There are plenty of crypto-software available outside the US and they will use it, even if there is no american software available for them. I am a common person, brazilian, and have access to the technology, so why the US goverment think that the "bad guys" woudn't have it?

Actualy counterfeiting money other people does lost money, everybody else. If counterfeit money were allowed everyone would print their money and very soon money would value nothing.
If you print a $100,000.00 you create inflation making everyone else's money worth less. -- "take the red pill and you stay in wonderland and I'll show you how deep the rabitt hole goes"

I agree with you, unfortunaly hacker/Cracker are two things compleatly different. I think that what we need is another word for what we call "Hacker" and surrender to the usual meaning of hacker.
In my opinion language (human I mean) is a matter of majority, if everyone say that a hacker is someone that cracks into a site and steal information who am I to disagree? -- "take the red pill and you stay in wonderland and I'll show you how deep the rabitt hole goes"
I would like to comment about how the people who are different is treated here in Brasil.
Our people don't like confronts very much, the opposite as I understand of you Americans, here if you go to a restaurant and is not treated well many people would still pay the tip to the waiter (the one that dind't treated you well in the first place) just to don't create a messy confunsion.
Since we have this way to deal with stuff, people who are different here do not have such bad time as you describe here. Maybe that's why I am writing this, the stories that you wrote realy shocked me, as I myself wore one of those different kids, shy, lonely and very interested in computers and games (atari 2600 in those days).
I would not say it was easy but shure was much better then what you describe. I was lonely all right, mainly because I couldn't get any girl, but no one beat me or harrest me for being diferent. I was a nerd but yet I had my friends, most of the time they were something like me, but some of them were with the kids that you would call "popular". Here in Brasil we don't classify people as "popular", of course there are people that are popular, but this don't make them better then others.
It's very hard to explain how this things work here, mainly because I don't know your way and you never saw my way either. I am shure I didn't said many important things, but I hope that I gave you an idea of how brasilian schools are.
The net here in Brasil right now is quite popular, people think is cool to be on the net. And papers and magazines like to show relationships that started in the net. And of course there are people acusing TV and games like "quake" as a start of violence I never saw anyone acusing the internet. Maybe is a matter of time, since our society like to immitate what you (americans) guys says and do.
If that is not a rape then I dont know what is one.
Correct if I am wrong, but when Mike Tyson was arrested for rape didn't he and the "victim" were spending a night on a motel? Why the history above is consent sex and Mike Tyson's one is not?
I coulnd't agree more, I just think that the "executable" part of documents should be about document contained data. I mean, a script inside a document should only be able to look and change data contained in the original document.
The problem is that VB and Active X gives you to much power from inside a document, and I don't think requiring a signature is enougth, since most of people (dumb people, but people) simply accept what ever dialog pops into their faces.
