All the models showed Hillary Clinton was going to win.
Except she didn't.
All the models show AGW is real, but only 42% of Americans believe it is real.
And the East Anglia Institute showed all the "peer reviewed studies" were really just propped up facades trying to prevent nay sayers from having a voice.
So I dismiss the herd appeals. Scientists only slightly different members of the corrupt scoundrels club.
In the Franken case cars were showing up during the recount with ballots marked almost entirely for Franken.
If I remember correctly this was showing up in Politico !!
Guys, this is AL FRANKEN. He's literally a comedian. His understanding is all jokes !
The stamp of committee approval with politicized judiciaries doesn't do much to gain my confidence either.
The Obama election, by contrast, had much less shenanigans, and the sum total of the peculiarities was well below what it would have taken to give it to McCain. Romney was pretty close, but I didn't hear much about any sketchy activity in that one.
Given that it is public record the FEC tried to hack into our voting systems (forget Russian meddling!), we should absolutely not have votes sent digitally anywhere.
There is so much corruption in this process. Thankfully it is mostly local corruption at this point (exhibit A: Al Franken, exhibit B: Harry Reid with the SEIU), but we are not far from this at the federal level.
Definitely pass an amendment to keep the FEC out of states voting systems. If a state wanted to do this I'd allow it, but it would probably be a blue state and it would be their D votes to lose.
The thing about machine politics is it has never yielded anything good since its inception under Van Buren. It forced HRC on a party that didn't want her.
You appeal to a lot of things here, but I still don't understand why I don't have to pay for meals when I don't eat there and why businesses DO have to pay BY LAW for services when they aren't getting anything during that time. It just seems like a weird double standard. Perhaps you were subtly touching on an answer there and it went over my head.
I also don't understand why we should care about society. I care about my neighbor. Society is just an abstraction. 83% of people in the US (that includes a lot of democrats, progressives, and probably some socialists) think private charities do a better job of taking care of people than the government.
What would you do? Not let people or their money leave the country?
That's been tried. Nobody misses Cambodia or the USSR outside of Washington DC or Brussels. This country has done a lot to dismantle and destroy countries like that. People should be in charge of their own lives.
Preventing people and money from going sends the message, "People don't want to be here."
There's a case that enabling onco genes just gives people cancer and disabling them causes people to die quickly.
But since this is slashdot where everything is seen through the eyes of government euthenizing everyone and taking their money to help DC fat cats get fatter, I'm not giving much benefit of the doubt that they factored in all avenues here.

By "far and away" you fail to disguise your opinion here.
That's like the court of Ferdinand and Isabella sending a delegation to the Americas to determine the Indians advanced technology.
They weren't fools. They were after bigger things.
Science is less about protecting humanity from its worst instincts and more about inflaming contrived goals and enforcing our destruction.
Resident Evil
You mean the Alien franchise?
The article seems to say we should rush out there and stop the Germans because of something that got tossed up on \.
...
Based on something that was "widely seen".
In other words "they say" Germany should do something.
Or "the Public" thinks
The Public is not a real entity. It's just a lurid abstraction of our worst cravings. I'm not sure slashdot is very reliable either.
This is just a bunch of weasel words.

Just google: "alzheimers research accumulation junk"
First hit:

If old people don't need help why do hospitals have more old people in them?
...
Or do you mean "need" like in the USSR constitution which is sort of a disguise for having significance to the Party?
It's one thing to practice age discrimination, it's another to think it's the answer to all the world's problems.
You seem to have taken a blatantly false premise to ridiculous ends
There's been a lot of recent research showing this is much, much easier to do than we ever realized.
But it doesn't go with the 'push old people off the cliff' memo that people seem to glom onto here on \.
I have 2 computer science degrees.

Ok, so let's say the US government isn't so great.
Why should they REQUIRE by law something that people naturally do anyway?

I left a permanent job for this place with 30% increase in pay, and my customer is sitting directly behind me at the moment.
Maybe it's just because I'm young and naive/not discriminated against much yet, but it looks like there is demand for me as a permanent.
I'm sort of afraid direct democracy will lead to $0 taxes and infinite spending.
That's what always polls well, anyway.
Thanks!
I can't wait to find out what those upstanding journalists have to say about this!
The PEOPLE should know what the GOVERNMENT is doing.
Government should only know what is public domain, what their detective work reveals, or what a Judge gives a narrow warrant to be divulged.
The fact that WE are PAYING for these people to spy on us while we are obeying the law is spectacularly unreasonable.
Less government = more snooping ?
You are thoroughly mixed up.
If I don't eat at McDonald's I don't pay McDonald's.
And if they don't want to serve me food for 2 weeks I'm definitely not paying them for those 2 weeks.
Same is true if I had a meal plan somewhere.
My job (software consultant) says they want me sooo bad they'll pay for me to have 3 weeks off. The US gov doesn't make them do that.
So why is a gov MAKING some businesses PAY for services in exchange for NOTHING?
Another place where we are paying the government for someone else's generosity.
I can think of some other lame channels TWC should sell off.
Other than political convenience, what is the official reason to require this?
Monopoly of some flavor? Conflict of interest? Fiduciary responsibility?
I'm not sure selling off CNN would hurt them so much. Is that mistaken?
1) Lisandro doesn't like Peron
2) Lisandro doesn't like Trump
Is this parallel?
Yes. You are right! It is!
Surprised to see an article on /. acknowledge (however subtly) the way governments have historically diluted the value of their currencies
... in other words devalued the money people have.
I would have guessed a Trump administration would have slightly reduced demand.

+1 Beat me to this one ...
