Yes, Diablo II sucks. Most CRPGS(and I know Diablo * is not although it tries to market itself as it) do not stand close to PnP. I disagree about baldurs gate being a poor game; BG2 is a lot of fun(IMO of course) with a good plot and a lot of customization making it a true rpg(and the d&d license doesn't hurt..)

  3. to microsoft trolls on Linux 2.4.3 Released · · Score: 1

I am so sick of seeing morons modded up for making the same stupid 'insight'.
A 2.4.3 release of the kernel is not the equivilent of a new SP for NT.
a new macro(i believe it is termed macro) release is 95% of the time simply to add some more drivers.
it does not fix major bugs such as SPs do. NT needs the updates, while Linux has them available for user satisfaction, but they are not needed for most users.
To summarize, a release of a kernel adding a couple new drivers and adding ~1mb of code over the last revision is not nearly the same as having service packs which can be over 100mb(Microsoft Visual C++ SP4 > 100mb).

Yes, the children of today definitely need a right to make fun of their teachers and principals.

  12. newbie background on Linux.com Chats with BioWare Regarding "Neverwinter Nights" · · Score: 1

For those not familar with neverwinter nights -
    1. It is going to be published for MacOS,BeOS,Windows, and Linux, all to be released at same time
    2. It is a D&D 3rdEdition game allowing modules for D&D to be used directly on PC, with a person acting as DM (true D&D on PC)
    3. It does not have a set release date, but should be 3rd or 4th quarter 2001
    4. More specific D&D info - takes place from Neverwinter(northern FR) to Luskan, over 200 spells, up to 20th lvl. 7 races, 12 classes, 9 alignments. 200+ monsters, can import characters from the BG series.
    5. can play singleplayer or multiplayer, allows full voice communication

All of this can be changed(such as additional spells can be created, 20th lvl can be exceeded with future enhancements to be released). The main selling point of the game is that it has near-infinite playability, since you can create your own modules and use others modules, not just the ones included with the game. Therefore, you can create a PnP D&D game to PC!

"I hate having to download 25+ rpms/source files and having to figure out libraries etc" Funny, since with Debian none of this is needed! Sorry if this sounds like another "apt is great, debian is great", but it IS. If you don't like having to install KDE on redhat with many odd rpms, then move to a decent distro based on .deb and apt.
