The execs haven't slapped the DMCA on these guys yet, and I am glad for that. I think that we should start buying archos to fool around with. But if they do slap the DMCA around, I think that would be a call for a good ol' fashion boycott (or boston archos party:-). We need to stand up for our rights, and if they are denied, we need to fight back with the only weapon available to us, our own money.
What are you talking about?
I'm sure I'm going to look like the bad guy here... but can I point out that no one is going after anyone.
If they did post the inner (trade) secrets of the Archos players then the DMCA could apply, but only if Archos gets mad at them.
Too late to become the dominant browser on Windows? Probably.
Why? Netscape 7 (preview) on my XP system is very very nice.
The mail client is far superior to Outlook's "download and spread" sercurity and the integration of AIM is great.
While not much has changed in the interface the overall program (Themes? Not many anyways..) it has boomed since those days of getting Netscape for under a megabyte.
Netscape is very cool. It's that simple. IE has become the non-flashy client. It just seems as that a turn around could be coming simply because IE isn't really doing anything new.
Of course when peple come over to my place I don't let them use my linux pc... I just let them have at it on the XP machine (it's just a toy). When they browse the 'net they want to use IE but I force them to use Netscape. Many leave wanting to use NS the next time because it actually loads pages faster (in my informal tests) - it may be slow loading compared to IE but then again it isn't part of the OS and initialized during boot...
IMHO IE's dominance could just be part of a cycle. Considering AOL/TW is behind them they could just get the icon on the desktop or the exposure to show off their fine product.
Yoda tells Luke that he trained Vader, that Vader was his student when so far that doesn't seem to be the case.
My only problem is that I think some of Eps II that hit the cutting room floor and the short span of digital recording time made the actors seem horrible.
If things get inserted smoothly and correct then it's okay.
Maybe she isn't a ghost, maybe she talks to them and they don't know it or something... she's underground?
"He's as predictable as Brintney Spears, just marketed to a different audience."
Only half true....
Britney's whole image was made up, E at least started how he is.
Britney has nothing to say - except the occasional love lyric that might be original. Eminem has said some things haven't said in his genre... that is why he is popular.
Have you listened to the music? As far as taking rap styles to another level he is quite a performer. He is now part of the evil empire of the RIAA but he did struggle to "make it" for years.
I'm not saying he is better than Jonny Cash or Lennon, what I am saying is that when it comes to style and message they are on the same footing. There is a message. There are things that piss important white people off.
Let's compare Lennon. A man who tried to stop the war and bring change in his generation. He pissed a lot of people off and about 80% of the population hated his music. I'm wondering how many FBI pages were on him?
Eminem does deserve some credit for not filling all 70 odd minutes with pure crap. He does say intellegent things (and please don't bother pointing out one song while not pointing out another).
Look up the lyrics.. Tupac is another. His life may have been filled with crime (ironic that his lawyer David Kenner has the most motive to have had him killed and his life before rap was one of being a nerd despite his rhetoric) but his music filled with a message.
(Let's also look at "Biggie Smalls". Was a crack dealer, shaped up and afterward was killed by people thought to be LAPD...) (Of course Lennon was killed on the way to seeing his grown son for the first time... great guy!)
I don't want to defend Eminem but the underlying message (underlying the fag word and the rest which is shock factor which every "artist" uses).
What he says in the song "Square Dance" is quite powerful. But the thing isn't "him" it's what music in general says.
Music (in America) has always made the older status quo people angry. It attempts to bring about change on a level of peace and change your mind.
If you don't like one artists message then you can't simply say "they suck". If you don't like their music then you can say they "suck" but it's simply objective.
Sure, Eminem said "fag" a million times. I'm guessing that he didn't mean anyone gay in most points. When I was younger I called my brother a "fag" and he called me one. It had nothing to do with homosexuality. Now that so many people complained it has become one more thing for him to say to piss you off.
I bet half the population hates Cash... you don't... see it's objective.
Society does suck. If it didn't we wouldn't have politics (and so many things I don't feel like typing).
As long as there are people dying or people starving or wars or something then you will hear "sucky" music.
Jews are part of this discussion because in Spain at the same time they were being killed by the numbers.
In fact they weren't "universally" hated at those times. Spain just got real right-wing and they were a target. Jews loved Spain and Spain loved them - although they were treated better under the Moors (Moslems). Many went to Spain and chilled because everything worked out so well for so long. Ever heard of a language called Lindo?
I'm just saying that Christopher wasn't a fan of genocide.
Pox blankets do mean something because they were used on purpose... it was germ warfare even if they didn't understand why.
(those) Europeans anywhere is usually contamination because they tend to be a little racist.
I don't see a 'big bad company' trying to muscle out the 'little guy'...
I kinda have been seeing it as the little guy trying to push out the big guys. I'm no M$ fan but if their license is worse (which it's not, but people are thinking it is getting that way) then there is no point.
But since linux users never pay for anything anyway I guess you can just use hacked versions of games from p2p networks.
I don't think you would be out of your rights to get a "hacked" version if you own the game.(which nine times out of ten is just a modified exe file that doesn't bother with the SD shizz).
I don't advocate crime but why not try like www.cracks.am... if you want to try it you can cut and paste yourself.
Just what I needed, a controller that requires 6 additional hands to operate.
Even though I'm pretty much with you on this one; I think it's going to be cool to see gaming controllers that don't require 6 extra fingers and 36 extra key combinations to play.
I played hours of Soldier Of Fortune on the Dreamcast with the standard controller... god I wish I had a keyboard. I died every five minutes the first few times because the button config was horrible.
I mean... if you've played any FPS after Team Fortress Quake (#1) on up you know how many 'bindings' you must make and how the games are more like Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing.
The Spanish after him did in fact give small pox (infested) blankets to the Indians. Columbus didn't do anything that would even be close to what they did.
Columbus has been quoted (i wish i had the bookmark still) as saying some nasty things about Spain because of them killing Jews (same year that he showed up at the Capital).
While not the nicest guy he was cooler than many at his time. Of course many of it's just culture.
I grew up in a Bally's arcade. I still know every Street Fighter II move, every Mortal Kombat move and finishing move and most morphs, animalities, friendships and so forth....
But with that said on to my question. I remember this game we got from Namco (which I believe owned or partially owned the arcade). It was two players, sit down, speakers behind the head death match style.
Polygon-al (you could probably count them on both hands) and you drove around these little Star Fox looking ships.
For the life of me I can't remember what it was called and I'll donate all my Karma to anyone who can tell me.
It was so nice because of the realism (in control of course because you couldn't live through some of these crashes and I've never seen planes like this).
Even though I didn't use a question mark yet I guess I'm wondering what the XP it was called.
The execs haven't slapped the DMCA on these guys yet, and I am glad for that. I think that we should start buying archos to fool around with. No need to worry, move along.
Don't get militant over nothing...
It's already vacuum cooled... no point.

Good luck at your going-out-of-business sale, United Linux.
Finally home hobby (wanna be-)hackers like me can get a copy to try out....
*hacker==good, not bad

Eventually he will implode.
I know the Beatles are good, I didn't deny that.
I don't mean to say that scum of "Biggie Smalls" (name taken from a Bill Cosby movie) is any good either.
Just that the message of the words sometimes are worth hearing, if only once.
All music deserves that I believe...
OT so I nested this under your post.
Retail sales are odd.
For the past two weeks the PS2 has been advertised as costing $299 but the xBox for $199.
Didn't Sony say it first?

look up... 4 right on answers.
Thank you everyone because I loved this game and I think I'm going to buy it for 250 bucks.

I think this is going to make the agnostics on slashdot pretty mad...
oh wait, I think I'm the only one who isn't.
(I mean that in good fun kids, don't get upset.)
OMG thank you!!!
$250 bucks? We played this when credits cost a nickel (going out of business sale of sorts).
I will pass over the xbox and ps2 to play this again... great game!

They are in the right.
Well... considering they are trying to emulate MS code why don't they work for Microsoft?
I hear they pay pretty good.

I get modded as flamebait because I don't buy into the whole ergonomic thing?
It's getting to be like patent medicine because they offer ergonomic everything now a days.
I agree you need to pay attention to the workspace but sometimes the devices aren't the problem it's how you sit.

State funded cloning... kinda like a movie I just watched yesterday.
It's not the keyboard stupid!
It's the desk and the chair. The keyboard isn't going to make a difference if it's shoulder high.
Get the $5.00 keyboard and put it on your lap.
