Opera 11: Email There was a time when Mozilla combined the email program with the browser, but it stopped this integration long ago. That era is back again, this time on Opera.
Disclaimer: I haven't used Opera 11.
Even though it's not an "official" Mozilla project, you can nonetheless continue to use an integrated web browser and email suite in the form of SeaMonkey -- it's been around for years and years. Hard to see anyone else make grand claims about email functionality.
No. Flash isn't necessarily ideal but I'd rather have the choice. There have been times when I've been out and wanting to view a specific video, listen to a radio station etc where there wouldn't be an iphone app. You have the choice to completely disable it, I think possibly even uninstall it, and easily set it to only on demand... Whereas with Apple, you have none...
I'm kinda like you -- I prefer to have choices.
The general public, however, does not think that way at all. They aren't interested in choices and certainly don't want to fucking think about it. Please don't bother them.
Apple is a profanely profitable company because that nail that kinda stuff.
Yeah, I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one.
Software-wise, it's free or nearly so. You can do it low tech by managing your CA activities via the Linux/Unix command line or you can use more elaborate GUI packages that are available.
Very doable.
Now, I will concede that just about any upper-level manager in any IT organization that you might happen to ask would agree with you but they're just holding out for more funding -- that's just their natural knee-jerk reaction.
Its making apple products look 'cool' and special....
So, a big step for the other manufacturers to take to increase their sales fantastically would be to... remove the snap-on plastic "chrome" trim from their computers?
Damn. I just realized that all my web development has been a sham. I mean, if I were doing REAL web development then this kernel stuff would have blown up in my face, too.
When you first connect via SSH, you confirm that you trust the certificate. Your client then remembers the certificate for future use. Why doesn't web technology do this?!?
Safari, SeaMonkey, Firefox, and Chrome always have. (I replaced my expired commercial certificate recently with a self-certified version.)
The browser says, "Hey, this site is self-certifying. Do you want to trust the certificate from now on?" -- just like a new SSH connection.
If you were a stock investor, Apple might seem very significant. They make serious money.
If you want to stick to the technology side, Apple has always been inordinately significant because they've piloted the common usage of many standards and technologies (ie: If you want to know what kinda of electronic junk you might be buying from a knock-off PC maker in two years, look at Apple's products now).
The iPad is still assembled by cheap Chinese labor who sometimes get suicidal and jump off the Foxconn factory roof so they installed nets. But hey, it's 33% thinner!!!!!
BTW, I did the numbers a while back...
Foxconn's employee suicide rates are 1/3 the suicide rate of the general U.S. population. We should send people over there to figure out why their employees are so happy and healthy.
How about one with a extra 10% thickness/weight and having around 15 hours battery life?
I'm sure that they considered it and determined that most people did NOT want that bargain. After all, they want to sell as many of these things and make as much money as possible.
They are acting intelligently in utilizing technology that is well proven, works 100% is known safe and reliable.
The summary of the lighting technologies is pretty good but you started off with 100% bullshit. Sorry, but you do not pass.
You seem to think that consumers think and you even brought up the concepts of "safe" and "reliable." Nothing could possibly be further from the truth.
I read the headline and thread summary to this story and the next thing I know I wake up with keycap impressions on my forehead and a puddle of drool on my wrist rest.
This story is a powerful sedative! I'm bookmarking this baby!
I've heard religious folks refer to atheism as a religion before.
Could you please explain the criteria and your reasoning?

This reminds me of a bit of dialog from the movie "Thank Your for Smoking":
Joey Naylor: Dad, why is the American government the best government?
Nick Naylor: Because of our endless appeals system.

Settings > Enable plug-ins > "On demand"
Problem solved.
Hey, great! Could you please forward that to the appropriate higgajillion users out there using Flash on Androids?
Get back to us when that's done. Thanks.
How many new C=64s have we seen already? How many are there still to come?
Seven and, before it's all over, twelve more. Exactly.
It's more expensive than a lot of laptops, and almost all netbooks.
A lot of laptops and almost all netbooks cost less that $250???

The reason the iPad sells is that its got a years headstart, and Apple has locked in all the good components, so it's also the best value.
Uh... no. Tablet computers were around for years before Apple even lifted a finger to design and manufacture the iPad.
The reason that the iPad sells is because (Caution: surprise coming): It's a really good product.
As with the iPod and iPhone, Apple was way LATE to the party with the iPad but they made up for it with their commitment.
The secret weapon is obvious -
Its making apple products look 'cool' and special....

I still don't understand why it would be problem though if tablets were to fade away in a few years.
We're Americans (I assume).
We only want grand-slam product homeruns with complete avalanches of cash, preferably in the current fiscal quarter.
Growing a market? Sheesh, that's for someone else to do! (Well... and for Apple, too.)
* You're still stuck with the lame Mac keyboard.
I think that you just said about yourself all that anyone else needs to know.
> "...OS X and Linux have different kernels..."
Damn. I just realized that all my web development has been a sham. I mean, if I were doing REAL web development then this kernel stuff would have blown up in my face, too.
Well, users in advertisement are called personas....
Thank god it has a name. That changes everything!
Okay, everyone. There's no lying going on here -- it just personas.
Everything's okay!

Even email clients handle this like SSH.
The problem is that there are adherents to scientific claims who don't know the truth on both sides.
Let's agree to NOT use the word "truth." Leave the philosophy to priests and philosophers.

Maybe they could use a computer to speed that process up.
I dont think that Apple will ever launch anything with removable storage on it.
You don't seem to be familiar with Apple products. You should probably refrain from posting about them.
I'm not going to waste my time doing your research for you.
Apple is going to make me download the new OS, making my iPad 1 slow to a crawl. Just like they did to my iPhone 3G.
Not sure about the "forcing" part of your claim but when I had to restore my corrupt iPhone 3G I certainly was forced to iOS 4x.
My phone hasn't been worth a damn since.

Consumers are cheap. Period.
If Apple seems to be inordinately important, it's probably because you don't realize that Apple is inordinately important.
