  3. states challenging on More States Challenging National Driver's Licenses · · Score: 3, Interesting

I think that this has less to do with "protecting your rights" than it does with states keeping their archaic way getting you licenced. If you have ever moved from one state to another, you know the total nightmare process it is to move your licence and register your car. Every state has some crazy multi level state process for doing this. Oh no, it would be too obvious to get ALL that stuff done at the DMV, no its to the tax office, then to the department of transportation (not the dmv), then to the court house, then if you are unlucky enough to go to a state that will reject your previous state's driver's licence, you need to take their set of tests etc etc. The processes is so old and confusing, and these people have had these jobs position for years, the above government standardization will make these people jobless and ruin their money shuffling games. The last state I came from still was using PAPER for these registration processes, and it was MY responsibilty to check after a few months that my previous state had actually processed my move. I have had friends who made a similar move where the state they came from STILL had them registered in the previous state, their licence expired in that state and it was a big pain to get it all straightened out.

Ya think this is one of those times like when the guy who didn't sign the Beatles for a record deal? At anyrate, I find it funny that there are statements like free 18 months switching from Verizon to Cinguar with the iPhone. I have no idea if this is true or not, but it would be quite a slap in the face. Maby this will be a wakeup call to the cell phone companies that they are completly clueless about the market they control.

Thats a well documented problem. You can edit the profile in iSync here. Then you'll have calendar syncs. But be aware dont go syncing more than 1 month content (check to make sure it may be 1 week of content, there is an option to how much far to sync calendar events). The reason iSync has it disabled is because Verizon's firmware crashes the phone as it cant handle more than 1 month of calendar schedules and thats a Verizon firmware issue not iCal or iSync. Of course Verizon has no motivation to fix this no love for the Apple crowd.

My email contact consists of Egyptian hieroglyphics in one of those 3d art displays. First you gotta stare at it for a few minutes to have the objects pop out. Next its a trip to Egypt where you must follow clues to meet an old shaman. Use his clues to navigate though a snake infested pyramid. Find the one eyed pirate after defeating the octopus. you are rewarded with a postcard with my email address in a sack in sans script. Be sure to avoid the poison arrows and rolling rock on the way out. Spammers be dammed.

  18. Re:Installing on a USB hard drive? on Fedora Core 6 Preview · · Score: 4, Informative

Maby not the easiest way but I have been doing it since fedora 3:

Insert Fedora core cd #1 and turn on your computer. Boot to the cd.

When the boot screen comes up, type "expert" and hit enter. That will allow you to install to the usb drive. Install as normal, and make sure you install grub to the MBR.

Now, shut down. Boot up with Fedora disk 1 in the cd drive. at the boot screen, type: "linux rescue", and answer the questions about language when they come up. when it asks you if you want it to search for the installation, click "skip this step", and you will be brought to a shell.

    mount /dev/sda2 /mnt/source
    mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/source/boot
    chroot /mnt/source

Next, create the initrd, with the usb driver included:

    mkinitrd --preload=ehci-hcd --preload=usb-storage --preload=scsi_mod --preload=sd_mod /boot/initrd.img kernelversion

Now, you have to edit your grub.conf:

    nano /boot/grub/grub.conf

put the new initrd file name "initrd.img" in place of whats there. save and exit nano. reboot and it should work

of course your bios needs to be able to boot off usb devices. Hope that helps.
