why do you assume that there might not be undetected issues. Might this correlate with things like slightly reduced risk aversion, may it contirbute to depression, may it contribute to a lack of ability to control your food intake or may it contribute to imagining that when no direct link to symptoms have been discovered it is totally safe?
well, with custom keys and the excellent programming abilities on the unit I would think that you could create a "unlimited" undo function by just storing every keypress into a logfile and then roll that back as you need.

It's got a motion detector, lightening detector, sound activated trigger, datalogger, tempsensor, variable timer for timelapses/shutter contro, bluetooth interface to control from a computer and "fairly long range" 868mhz wireless shutter control.
The last number I saw published here in Norway said that cash only accounted for about 5% of the daily transaction volume, debit cards are used in 80% of purchases. Published statistics also say that cash is more expensive to handle than electronic transactions.
I can't remember using cash a single time during the last few months.
Here in Norway, the company you work for pays your taxes for you based on a personal tax card. The personal tax-card is distributed electronically from the government to every citizen based on last years income.
When we get our tax return forms, all debts, interests, banksavings, stocks and property is already filled out. Most people only have to make small changes.
Everything you need to change in the forms, are available online.
If you own taxes or you've paid too much through the year, the final balace must be cleared by june.
Seems like the system you guys got over the pond is vastly overcomplicated.
While I think that giving out tablets for school use seems like a daft idea, this is the best possible result. Lots of kids doing their own research into how they can make a device suit their needs.

I have access to the show through my cable subscription, but I rarely use my tv for watching stuff. Afterall my computer has a 30" screen, surround speakers and a darker room. I sometimes use my PVR to record stuff from tv, but I rarely turn it on to watch whatever I've recorded.
When you have practically unlimited storage space at home, you sort of like to keep whatever you download as well, just in the rare chance you'll ever want to see it again (or share it with someone).
Torrents are much better than streaming, and the selection of things to watch is MUCH greater than any online service I've found. It's not about the money for me, much more so about the convenience.

I'm already using striped SSD's in my gaming/photo/video rig. It is a bit overkill, but I'll never go back to use spinning disks for anything besides "long term storage".

If you knew anything whatsover about cameras, you'd notice that Nokia wasn't the first (or last) company to use professional cameras instead of the crappychips in cellphones for their advertising.

Yawn.. please try to keep a disk with a bad motor. You might get it to spin up, you'll get your data - but the disk is still broken.
Looking at one of the shelves here in my home office, I spot 3x1tb, 4x500gb and 2x3tb disks that I can pop in if something breaks. The 3tb disks are spares for my FS.
I'm using the 1tb disks for backups(3x3x1tb) and haven't thrown out the 500gb ones as I don't think they're quite old enough for the trash just yet.
Yeah I looked at the data from google when they published it and it makes sense. I don't really worry about it though.
At home I take backups of the stuff I care about (sourcecode, pictures, video). I've had quite a few disks breaking on me through the years, but haven't lost any data I care about due to a disk that breaks down.
At work we have redundant backups both of data and vms. Backups are on disk inhouse, on disk in a second location and on tape in a second location.

I havn't even considered testing my personal harddrives. If they break I try to retrieve whatever is on them, but I just buy new drives instead of spending any amount of time fixing them, never returned a disk - I just buy a couple of new ones whenever I need more space.
At work we're using properly configured SANs with 24x7 support, so I couldn't be arsed to test disks there either. We don't have multiple racks of disks, so I don't see any good reason to test everything.
If you're testing new diskdrives you must be really bored or very broke.
The payment is split between the company you work for and the public benefits we have here. I think my employer pays for the first week and after that it is split up depending on how long you've been sick. I think it works in much the same way as with the maternity/paternity leave.
I pay about 28% direct tax which I don't think is too bad considering what I get in return for it. My health insurance is ofcourse included in the taxes.
Although some people (not too many) abuse the system, it is widely considered to be a good thing.

nah, not running _that_ many at home anymore. Still I don't think I need more of them
2 laptops, two desktops, a mediabox and a fileserver. Only the Fileserver has more than a couple of tb of disks.
Fileserver uses raid 5, just in case. Desktops are striped SSD's, laptops uses single SSDs and my mediabox boots from an SD card.
I've got neither the time or interrest in testing my disks besides replacing them if they break.
