Our customers want to see a place that is cool, exciting and fun - they want the wow factor. You simply cannot do the same level of animated menus, nice rollovers or other animation effects in HTML that you can do in Flash.
Almost all of our customers have commented on our site's design - first impressions do count.
How ironic that Apple would be the one to deny others the power to create custom web interfaces for their businesses.
97% of web users and all mobile phones EXCEPT for the iPhone can view Flash sites - it's a de facto web standard. Sorry, Steve Jobs is the odd one out (and the fact that his decision is "controversial" highlights that fact).
It's extremely annoying to see Mr Jobs deny me access to customers based on his idea of perfection.
As a small restaurant/club owner, I spent a lot of time creating a Flash-based website so that it would be more appealing to customers than an HTML site. Is Mr Jobs really suggesting that I should now create an app for my business instead?
Count me as one who cares. I've had.pst file of old outlook mail sitting around for at least seven years waiting for this kind of news. Being able to import it directly into gmail would be very useful.
You don't have to be in the country to offer support or to help. Just ask the many bloggers here and around the world who are helping distribute images and video from inside Iran.
First of all, we already broadcast radio and TV in the form of the BBC and other foreign satellite channels into Iran.
Secondly, the Iranian embassy in the US can broadcast to us if they like. I doubt they'd get many followers.
I presume you are also the kind of person who would stand idly by while your neighbor beats their child. Thankfully others do not suffer from the same moral cowardice.
Japanese people do not use these spaces because they are actively seeking out media, but because they are using the space as a refuge from long commutes and cramped, shared, homes. Japanese people often work very late and live over one hour from the city, making it almost impossible to visit each others homes. To have any privacy, couples have to meet outide the home, and places such as Bagus, karaoke boxes and love hotels are all geared to this market.
