Kernel 2008.w29 would be a kernel that was released this week.
Sure, you can't say for sure if the next stable kernel will be 2008.35 or 2008.39, but is it really all that important? Hell, if 53 versions a year is too much, go for 2008.m07 instead.
On the plus side it makes it easy to figure out how old your kernel is - if that's important somehow.
Second Life also has some serious DRM issues. It seems to be quite common for creators of content to make their goods non-Transferable. So if you ever want to leave Second Life, you will have to just kiss goodbye to much of the money you have spent, because you won't be able to resell many of your purchases.
Here's a hint: Don't buy non-transferable items. Noone is forcing you to spend your hard-earned L$ on anything. Plenty of free stuff lying around for people to use.
This isn't any different from you not having to buy Windows, Microsoft Office, Photoshop and a ton of other stuff.
Find a job at an engineering company and not a software company. In my experience, the software company expects that you live, eat, drink, breathe and piss code 24 hours a day, that you'll LOVE developing/coding so much that the 40 hour work week can be extended to 80 without overtime.
The engineering company doesn't expect that. Why? Because most of their employees are engineers who work on stuff like houses, bridges, boats, cars, medication, electrical design etc., where quantity over quantaty gets people injured or killed and the company bankrupt.
Hell, the last engineering company I worked for refused to let me give an updated version of a program to our clients until everything was documented - and not just in the code. Afterwhich my boss gave me a strange look and asked why the hell I had that odd smile on my face.
Uhm... just read through that wiki entry a few times, and it gave me absolutely no information about the quality of the playback. Two of the comments in the "report" are usefull - the rest are quite literally useless when it comes to judging the playback ability. I.e
CPU: Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz Speed: 2400.000 MHz Memory total: 4050584kB Kernel: 2.6.22-14-generic Video codec/container: h264 / m2ts Resolution: 1920x1080 Bit rate: 32469 kb/s Comment: Blu-ray rip of "Casino Royale." Media player: mplayer
Wauw. How about... video frame rate vs playback frame rate? The above comment just tells me that the guy ripped Casino Royale. However, if the video frame rate is 29.97 fps, but only plays back at 19.87, the CPU isn't usefull for that particular application.
ID fails as a scientific model in several respects. First *it makes no predictions*. So, as a scientific model, it is completely useless.
From what I understand, ID does in fact make a prediction - all beings are unchanging. I.e. there is no change in a species. This can be tested and disproven.
That is happens to have been tested and disproven doesn't seem to discourage the ID crowd though.
Well, seeing as you can rewind all the way back to the 10,000th generation (but no further) and still end up with a strain that can digest citric, but the 10,000th generation can't do it on its own (doesn't happen until about the 31,500th generation according to the article), it's kinda difficult to claim that it's just adaptation. An adaptation would (to me) indicate, that the 10,000th generation itself gains an edge over its competition, but since it can't process citric, that's hardly the case.
'Look, lights in the sky.. it must be a UFO since we can't figure out what else it is' isn't an argument, it's refusing to accept that one doesn't know the answer about something and is either too insecure to be ignorant about it, or too lazy to search for the truth.
Actually a UFO is an "Unidentified Flying Object". IF we know that it is in our sky (and not outside the atmosphere), it doesn't seem to be falling down and we don't know what it is, it is indeed flying, it's an object (as far as we can tell) and since we don't know what it is it is also unidentified.
Just because it is a UFO doesn't mean that it is an alien craft, nor that it will remain a UFO, just like Dark Matter and Dark Energy will always remain those things.
I understand what you're trying to say, but in an argument like this, don't use the term UFO when you really mean flying saucers - it's just flat out wrong (well, unless you also believe that refering to Shiva can be done by calling him/her/it God without confusing people)
I do not understand why prostituion is illegal. Selling is legal. Fucking is legal. Why isn't selling fucking legal?
People talk about sex-slaves being forced to sell themselves for money. That's kidnapping and forced coercion and I'm pretty sure we have laws against that in most countries.
Think about it - if prostitution was legal, these slaves wouldn't be scared about going to the police, because they wouldn't risk prison and being sent out of the country they're in.
There's always a 6 month delay between when a show is aired in the US and when they air it in Australia
Same around here (Denmark). Sure, part of it comes from texting (we don't dub anything but children's programs), but one of the niche channels manages to show The Daily Show (fully texted and ads removed) with two to three days delay. With the time difference that's down to between 37 to 63 hours.
Very respectable, especially when they manage to do really nice translations of puns and jokes that wouldn't work in direct translations.
Personally I'm starting to suspect a cabal of Tourist Agencies in Asia and Europe has been quietly pushing more and more of these insane airplane and U.S. border procedures.
Think about it - more and more Europeans and Asians are staying away from the US, opting instead to either stay at home or visit Europe or Asia.
Business travelers are staying away from the US as well, asking their US counterparts to come on over instead.
Okay, so mayby they aren't behind it, but it certainly makes more sense than the "it's for your own protection" idiocy you keep hearing.
Well, if you look at this as a service offered on real world things, you'd basicly be asking your bank to send a new pincode for your credit card to
Nilly Willy Imaginary Street -13 108 Duckburg Langbortistan
Then when they can't really do that, you'll show up at your bank, and still be denied access to your bank account, because your passport and driver's license doesn't have the same social security number and birthday as the one you used on your bank account (say 45th of Undecember 1735, and SSN of 192QNz98217).
Granted, the bank kinda screwed up when they allowed you to use that address, birthdate and SSN, but you can't really complain that they won't just allow Joe Random to walk in from the street and use the money in the account.
Sure, but ... you know ... that's different!
You left out the word "with" ...
See, we (men) can get paid to have an orgasm. That's perfectly fine. But if we pay someone else to give it to us, it's illegal in most countries.
I really do not understand the logic in that.

Well, honestly I have enough trouble with this one from the article
Combine it with a mix of simple math and image recognition? I.e.
"What colour hair does the (2+four)/3 girl from the left have?"
Hell, skip the math part if that's too easy.
What about those of us who know him from both "Two Guys and a Girl" and "Drive" (before it was killed off), but didn't watch Firefly?

Well ... I don't know about you, but I'm waiting for "Waka Waka"
More likely he's a presidential candidate being asked about some of the promises he's already broken ...
Your sig is broken. If you lose a game of chess against a better opponent, you can't exactly find it again.
OTOH, I'd imagine people would object to the possibility of a fusion reactor dropping on their house in case of an accident.
You mean more than they'd object to the possibility of say a jet engine or an entire jet liner dropping on their house in case of an accident?
Honestly, I think most people wouldn't complain if it happened to their house, as they'd likely be inside at the time and thus die from it.

And what the hell does that do? No, I'm not fireing up anything to try it - well, maybe apart from burning my geek card.

Why is that bizzare?
To quote George Carlin:
People talk about sex-slaves being forced to sell themselves for money. That's kidnapping and forced coercion and I'm pretty sure we have laws against that in most countries.

Mmmm ... Coca Cola ...
I find it interesting that you would give them the benefit of the doubt, when you doubt that they extended the same courtesy.
I'd worry more about this search more. Feel free to replace "gay" with "serial killer", "playa", "wife beater" and other fun combinations ;)

As has been pointed out above - you screwed up.
