I can't help feeling that it would be even cooler to hide a bluetooth memory stick somewhere (Maybe the lining of a curtain or something) and use that for all your dodgyness. Sure, you'd need to pull it out to change the batteries now and again but it's still quite a neat little trick.
Ummm... as photographers just what exactly are you doing messing around with your prints on a computer? I thought that the general idea was that if you were any good you didn't need to do any post processing.
Hehe... unfortunately for me it's a bit of a style issue too. I do like how they look and the balance of the knives definately works for me. I can't seem to find much about those knives on the web though. I will have to try harder.
Actually, I have cancelled my NTL subscription a number of times before the 12 months were up. There are many loopholes in the contracts, but one of the more simple ways of doing it is to say you are moving to an area they don't service.
Personally I've always been pretty happy with them though.
There is really a very simple answer to your question. Right now, LCD TVs are highly desirable and very fashionable. Any time a manufacturer can put those two words together they know they have a limited timeframe to print their own money.
A very similar thing happened to me recently with a set of knives (Bear with me). I had saved up for a set of 12 Global knives which were previously retailing for around 300GBP. Unfortunately, having recently appeared with a number of TV chefs and on various other TV programmes they are now very much in fashion. Recent price? 500GBP. I'm leaving them on the shelves for now, as I am with LCD televisions.
When it comes down to it you have a simple choice. Pay the premium now to look cool or wait until they are mainstream and demand / competition drives the prices down.
Sure you do, think of the numbers involved. Lets say 10% of the population is opposed to something, and 10% of them can be bothered turning up to a protest. Looking at a country like America - What does that give you?
Well, for ease - Take a population of 300 million. Which would give you 30 million opposed and 3 million protestors. That many people waving banners can fill up a hell of a lot of roads!
Actually, even at its worst, Blair still had 55% support of the British population for the war. That may sound bad, but it still sounds like democracy in my book.
What an absolutely terrifying site. It's like they have data mined the planet and they have all the data on countries worth invading just there at their fingertips.
In the UK you can class pretty much anything as either "driving without due care and attention" or "dangerous driving". We have the most evil car drivers in the world apparently and we are always trying to give our police as many powers as possible against them!
I stand corrected.:-) (Then again I imagine the playback quality of an XBox / PS2 should be much higher as they have some sort of reputation to protect)
There are plenty of parents out there without enough money to get their kid a dvd player and a console.
Obviously at that point the smart money gets put on the multifunction device which gives the child the best of both worlds (and in a single box which fits happily in even the smallest bedroom.).
You've made a mistake, your reasoned argument is not welcome here at Slashdot! To be honest, you could have picked even more holes in that poorly constructed rant - But that wouldn't have been nice would it?
Dont get me wrong, I never said that the course has done me any good as far as employment is concerned.:-) In fact (and I shouldn't say this too loudly here) my MS and IBM certs have probably earnt me a ton more money in reality.
Oi... I studied software engineering at Aberystwyth, who at the time were one of only three universities in the UK offering such a course. They may have terrible facilities for a lot of things, but their computer science departments and robotics labs are pretty damn impressive.

That's certainly an informative post. Thanks for that. :-)

Hmmm.

I've been hearing a lot about the MS broken CSS support of late but am not sure where to look to read up on what they've managed to screw up.
Anyone have any links comparing their implementation of CSS to what it actually should be? (Thx)
Thanks for that.
Have you got any links to those figures? I've never seen them that low so I'm wondering just exactly who the polling group was.

Interesting, thanks for that.
I've tried that, but the police keep pulling me over. :(
I do hope I wasn't the only one who gets that. :-)
I stand corrected. :-) (Then again I imagine the playback quality of an XBox / PS2 should be much higher as they have some sort of reputation to protect)
You are paying waaay too much money for your kit. These are UK prices:
:-)
XBOX with DVD Remote: 100
PS2: 120
Gamecube: 80 (Not sure how much you'll get a seperate DVD player for but it wont be 20)
I'm not complaining though... I have a dvd player, xbox and gamecube.
There are plenty of parents out there without enough money to get their kid a dvd player and a console.

How many of them are even willing to learn? Few in my experience.

Kudos though - Defending MS here takes guts.
That's superb, I just wish that I had some mod points right now!

You know... that's part of the total problem. Which self respecting suit would want to use a piece of software with a name like that!
I can see some top lawer now: "I'll just get Jane to pull you up a copy in Thunderbird".
Yeah, right. I'm sure this is one of the reasons open source gets a bad name. THE GEEKS KEEP NAMING THE SOFTWARE!
