The profit-motive is incentive to improve efficiency and service.

If providing certain services conflicts with the profit motive then those services are dropped. A clear example of this the crappy service provided to rural customers by Australia's dominant telco, Telstra. Without legislation people in rural areas would suffer greatly because providing those services is much more expensive than in urban areas. The limited capital available could be used more profitably elsewhere. There are many examples of this sort of behaviour and if your head wasn't so far up your ass, you would see this.

If all other things are equal in terms of service then there must be a net benefit in providing the service at a cheaper rate. Should govts legislate to protect the profits of companies? They sure as hell don't legislate to protect the jobs of workers from offshoring.

It also means you don't have to go around looking for work and you can do it in your own time. It provides exercise and you are somehow encouraged to eat more vegies.

For long-term relationships, women like dads - men who are kind, compassionate and monogamous. But for short-term relationships, women prefer cads - the classic Romantic dark heroes who are dominant, promiscuous and daring.

Or do a search on google for "cads and dads". In relationship terms, it would seem that all we are good for is being economic and parenting units.

    From MSDN:
"Using sp_executesql is recommended over using the EXECUTE statement to execute a string. Not only does the support for parameter substitution make sp_executesql more versatile than EXECUTE, it also makes sp_executesql more efficient because it generates execution plans that are more likely to be reused by SQL Server."

The solution is to take away the battery aspect. Generate power and put back it into the grid. You continue to run standard appliances from 110v/240v power as you normally do. The power you make, you sell back to an electricity company, and thus you offset the cost of your electicity. (you can do this in Australia) The grid acts a battery for you.

Unfortunately the costs, even without batteries, converters, etc, can still be prohibitive.
