I have run amd and intel side by side and I really don't see much of a difference. Even online test's between these chips show that the phenom ii is faster than the i7 in some test's and vice versa but it's usually a few seconds to a minute or 2 - 10 fps difference. Running today's games on my machine is excellent. I can run blender, libreoffice, media center, and windows 8 in virtual box all at the same time on the phenom ii x6 and my system runs just fine it does not come to a crawl. The biggest and most important difference between amd and intel is the pricing. Why spend $200-$1000 on an intel i3, i5, i7 chip when I can get a phenom ii or fx chip for a lot less. I know there are nutty people out there who actually buy intel chips and piss away their money because it's 10 seconds or 10 fps faster than amd.
When it comes down to cpu's the majority of computer users in this country really have no clue what they are using under the hood even though they probably know who Intel is and so AMD has to rely on companies like dell, gateway, hp etc.. to buy their processors for their machines to sell to consumers.

Than I got TWC 20Mbit, 768kbit up for $50 but drops to 1Mbit download in the afternoon around 1-3pm, I get home from work and i get shitty 1mbit even lower, how nice. Now I got fios 75Mbit with 35Mbit up and it never drops, no caps, but no tv, for $90. People need to start boycotting these companies ripping people off and just go with fios if it's in your neighborhood.
AMD is still a great company. The FX-8150 beats intel i5 and i7 cores to some test's and vice versa. Last chip was a core2duo and it ran fine but my phenom ii x6 runs a lot more apps on my machine plus virtual box without my system coming to a crawl. Sorry, don't want to piss $200-$400+ on an intel cpu than can beat an amd in compression by 1 or 2 minutes or run games 10-20 fps faster.
My phenom ii x6, in heavy use such as gaming during summers i get 49celcius total chip and 32c each core. Now, i get 40c total and 25c each core, for gaming. The lowest total core temp i had was 25c when it get's a little chilly outside. It's not that bad when it comes to temperatures. Plus I'm using a big ass heatsynk and fan.
I will no longer be buying intel chips, too damn expensive.

Office 2010, the menu became the ribbon which are categorized and labeled nicely, clipboard, font, alignment, number, styles cells, editing, etc.. and under each of these categories you have the icons and yet again some are labeled which makes things a lot easier compared to office 2003 and libreoffice where the icons on the toolbar are not categorized, labeled(mouse over icon reveals label but time consuming), and it's all over the place. It takes time to get used to the Ribbon but once you become proficient at it, you will probably enjoy it more than the old menu and toolbar system. LibreOffice UI looks nothing like office 97 or 2003, it's actually better and cleaner looking than those 2.
Instead of shuttleworth doing this ad crap, since he has more than $500million, plus making money from support and other cash streams, why not just hire professional game developers or hire companies like Sega, Capcom,RockStar, Crytek, Activision, Konomi, etc... to either develop new games for ubuntu or port some of their old or current games over to ubuntu and charge the user for the product. Or hire libreoffice developers full time, excellent pay, and come out with a great alternative to office 2010/2013 and charge for it, or a product competitive to photoshop or maya, etc... I was able to run Call of duty 4 modern warfare 1 in wine in ubuntu 12.10 and the only issue was that it was too slow even on a phenom iix6@2700, but i think its the ati radeon 6850 proprietary drivers. I ran it successful in the past at full speed but using an old geforce 9800gt, 512mb ram, 256-bit bus width. I'm gonna buy an nvidia card since they run a lot better in linux.
I would actually stay away from AVG and AVAST. I had viruses go past AVG and AVAST undetected. AVAST has the same detection rate but it does cause OS hangs and sometimes BSOD's, well in the past it did on windows xp, vista, 7. Right now, I'm using Kaspersky which has a good detection rate but it's so damn expensive, but for some reason it caused my windows 7 to schedule chkdsk(hard drive is fine) on every boot, removing this from the scheduler did not stop it so I had to reinstall the whole OS and now no issues with Kaspersky(new update fix) installed. Microsoft's own MSE is not that bad and i think it's better than avg and avast.
For windows 7 and windows 8, with MSE, avoid porn sites, don't download things you don't know about, and logging in as a limited user after installing whatever apps as an administrator, should sufficient enough to avoid viruses. Or just go for Linux if you are just surfing the web, playing music or movies on your machine.

I read articles stating that nvidia open sourced the nv X driver with the installer, config, and settings that works with the proprietary driver so if anything goes wrong that makes a new kernel incompatible with a current nvidia driver the open source community only have to modify the open source that nvidia offers to make the current driver install on the new kernel. But, I never had any issue with nvidia and ati proprietary drivers for the linux compared to the full open source versions which have bugs and glitches. I run some windows games in wine and they run pretty fast with minor graphical glitches.
Microsoft pays for the ati and nvidia source code and yet kde is still on par or faster than windows 7 aero.
If you read the Microsoft metro app store policy you will start laughing, especially at "3.2 Your app must not stop responding, end unexpectedly, or contain programming errors", I mean look who's freaking talking here. I was able to run Call of duty 4 modern warfare 1 in wine in ubuntu 12.10 and the only issue was that it was too slow even on a phenom iix6@2700, but i think its the ati radeon 6850 proprietary drivers. I ran it successful in the past at full speed but using an old geforce 9800gt, 512mb ram, 256-bit bus width. I'm gonna buy an nvidia card since they run a lot better in linux.
I would actually stay away from AVG and AVAST. I had viruses go past AVG and AVAST undetected. AVAST has the same detection rate but it does cause OS hangs and sometimes BSOD's, well in the past it did on windows xp, vista, 7. Right now, I'm using Kaspersky which has a good detection rate but it's so damn expensive, but for some reason it caused my windows 7 to schedule chkdsk(hard drive is fine) on every boot, removing this from the scheduler did not stop it so I had to reinstall the whole OS and now no issues with Kaspersky(new update fix) installed. Microsoft's own MSE is not that bad and i think it's better than avg and avast.
For windows 7 and windows 8, with MSE, avoid porn sites, don't download things you don't know about, and logging in as a limited user after installing whatever apps as an administrator, should sufficient enough to avoid viruses. Or just go for Linux if you are just surfing the web, playing music or movies on your machine.

I wouldn't be surprised if canonical went public. The sad thing is canonical is making money off of programmers who contribute freely, and these developers won't see shit. Going to switch to Linux Mint 13 Kde. I installed linux mint 13 xfce on a netbook and it runs fine. If all linux distros take this direction than it's hello bsd or the old windows 7.
I read articles stating that nvidia open sourced the nv X driver with the installer, config, and settings that works with the proprietary driver so if anything goes wrong that makes a new kernel incompatible with a current nvidia driver the open source community only have to modify the open source that nvidia offers to make the current driver install on the new kernel. But, I never had any issue with nvidia and ati proprietary drivers for the linux compared to the full open source versions which have bugs and glitches. I run some windows games in wine and they run pretty fast with minor graphical glitches.
Microsoft pays for the ati and nvidia source code and yet kde is still on par or faster than windows 7 aero.
If you read the Microsoft metro app store policy you will start laughing, especially at "3.2 Your app must not stop responding, end unexpectedly, or contain programming errors", I mean look who's freaking talking here. Windows 1 to Windows 7, office 1 to office 2010, all had and have freaking issues(freezing, crashes, bugs, glitches) xbox 360 hardware failure, and yet they got the balls to tell you not to fuck it up. Shit, how many freaking times my windows 7 kept freezing because i did not set the storage(both winodws & amd SB drivers sucked) configuration from ide compatibility to ahci in the bios while the linux distros had no issues with this.
Microsoft also has the right to cancel your account and wipe all your apps off from the store any time if they think you are not conforming to their policy. For students, learning c & c++ would make it easier for them to adapt other languages much quicker. Writing efficient and inventive Algorithm's is the most important aspect of any programming language.
Islam has become more of a political machine than a religion just like when the Catholic Church used Christianity to get their way with the world, well especially with Europe, they still do today to some degree. Religion should be about having a personal relationship with their creator not turn it into a political ideology orgy where a few use it to control the masses and wielding it against the non-believers. This is why it's good to have here, in the U.S, separation between church and state and in place we have common, Statutory, and Constitutional Law . But who am I kidding, look at how Bush, Obama, democrats, republicans, supreme court, all have twisted, misinterpreted, raped our laws for the governments own benefit or their corporate masters.
People need to stfu, not be so thin-skinned, and just try to live their lives as best as they could instead of getting upset of what others think of their religion, country, or as a people. You have only 1 life so don't waste it so carelessly.
