    Umm, no I meant bi-direction as in an eavesdropping device. Look up infinity transmitter, I'm sure the govt/agencies have nice modern hi-tech versions of these.

    No, I dont think *you* get it, the Military has liscensed that frequency, it's theirs to do as they please. The keyless-systems have to accept any and all interference coming from the military because the military controls those frequencies.

    Even unstable is pretty damn stable for me. Unless you're running some completely obscure configs, I've never had a problem with unstable. The box only reboots when the power goes out.

    Your math doesn't hold up. Just because there are 26^17 combo's doesn't mean they all can/could be used.

    EG: characters 4-8 are body style/features/engine/type/etc and 10 is the year.

    I'm sure a car from 2004 will have any of the similar features of a car from the 80's, so there goes 1 whole factor, down to 26^16, I'm sure if you went through the other characteristics it would narrow it down even further.

    Erm, a standard bardcode doesn't hold much, considering the MaxiCode (AKA UPSCode) barcode can only hold up to 100 ASCII characters, so you'd need a hellaciously large barcode reader/writer/media to store an entire mp3.
