Can't carpool. Always have flexible hours. The subway? Unless I go super-early before the parking is 100% used up, the subway turns a 40 minute commute to inner d.c. into an hour and 30 minute commutes. I moved where I moved because I knew I would have different employers every couple years -- I can't tie a 30-year-mortgage to some job that's only going to last a couple years. You don't know where your next job is going to be no mater what, if you own a home. I guess everyone should rent in the name of the environment! And follow our jobs around. The problem could be helped a lot by simply giving businesses more incentive to NOT set up downtown, and to change zoning laws so that businesses and residences can mix more. NOT to take an accepted social contract between the taxpayers and the government (i.e. "Taxes get roads"), one which many people have based their decisions on for DECADES, and turn it around into a money-grab which also restricts the poor from being able to freely move. Oh: And government subsidized hybrid cars. Or at least: Stop fighting better emissions standards (I'm looking at you, Bush.) This isn't going to save the taxpayers any money; it will just become another source of revenue for the government. The extra money is not going to be fairly distributed, and even if it were now, there's no guarantee that it will be in the future. Government getting up in your ass is not good. Pretty much ever.

If you can play Guitar Hero on expert, all you've got to learn is the fretboard and NOTES to play guitar; in terms of the rhythm, you've already learned. Of course, I did it backwards. 10+ years of guitar playing, THEN guitar hero. Got through 80% of songs in "HARD" mode in 1 try. I still got the rhythm, and 5 buttons is extremely easy compared to a guitar. The point being: If you learn rhythm, you're about 1/3rd of the way there to playing ANY instrument, not just guitar. (P.S. I drum too.)

Something gmail's had for years. I love how you guys all portray webmail as if it is some area of hopelessness and anarchy. It's quite easy to get things under control. I have over 1100 filters and pretty much everything is multi-labelled correctly automatically, including lists-which-don't-go-to-my-inbox and such. My first email? 1991.
the difference is huge. I watch VHS, SDTV, *and* HDTV, almost every day, due to electic tastes. (yesterday I went from Ferris Bueller The Series vhs to Curb Your Enthusiasm SDTV to Smallville 720p). 720p isn't as big of a difference -- it's only like 2.5 times dvd quality or so. But 1080p is a big difference. When looking at a landscape from a helicopter-view camera, you can literally see about 90% of the detail that you would see in real life. It is nothing short of amazing. And Shrek 2 rendered in 1920x1080 was, in terms of visual detail, the most amazing thing I've ever seen in my life.(I just got my TV last month.)
If you do LSD daily, you need to double your dose each day to feel the effects. Tolerance doubles each day, and halves each day of non-use. So, even if day 1 cost you a penny, day 30 would cost over a million dollars. OF course you could just do it every other day...

1080p HD video is *SIX TIMES* as many pixels as dvd. It is actually a larger jump than vhs->dvd.
