I like it... a honeypot setup as a cookie jar... that's great! We could disiminate so much information like this... and it would all fall back on their own crappy OS...
IIRC, it was around the 386/486 days... you had to be able to diagnose problems as well, and the book (large) had alot of information on how to diagnose paitents in the game... very fun, but I never got very far in it..
Historically, "wardialing" was phr33k-slang for the rapid dialling of phone numbers. Exactly what does this have to do with 802.11? Driving around and listening to packets is not the equivalent of "wardialling", nor is it in any way similar.
Its not the act of dialing, it's the act of searching and finding a connection. They are the same.

It won't be implemented in a non-intrusive, practical manner. For instance, preventing me from copying my cd's to my mp3 player is intrusive. If it can't prevent that simple act, then what the hell are they fighting for? If they do prevent that simple act, then it's intrusive and impractical.
So why not argue against the ideals behind the bill?
That's what people are doing. We're not criminals until we commit a crime. The ideals behind the bill are all we have to argue against.
I purchased an 12.1 inch iBook 700mhz 640mb ram just a few months back and I couldn't be happier... OS X is evrything I've wanted in a *nix install.. ease of use, yet hands on mangling if necessary... I still use linux on the home servers but only because I already have the boxes...

However, be warned: Linux can't endlessly play catch-up to Windows. In order to make Linux PREFERRED over Windows it'll have to evolve to a point that it is substantially different.
Would the price not make it substatially different? If people are constantly seeing PC's at $399 and the same PC at $899 w/windows, don't you think someone's going to get the picture?
I mean, alot of these people are the kind that wouldn't know the OS from a hole in the ground. But they do know money.
You don't see that side of the story, if it did or didn't happen. Do you tell your boss that you're not going to do something because you don't see the value in it? I sure as hell wouldn't. The value is doing what I'm told, and at the end of the week, I get my fat check.
They took the money and did what they were told. What are the lawyers by themselves gonna get out of Dave? Do you really think it's worth their time to have someone quit doing something? No. They get paid for it, and they're doing their job.
And *NOT DONE ANYTHING WRONG* is in your eyes. It's in my eyes too, but that is partly the reason why we have the courts and professionals who practice in them. If you're going to chastize anyone, you should chastize the company. Leave the workers out of it.
I'd hate to be your mailman when he delivers bad news.
as I prepare for law school in the spring... I wonder... what the hell does the lawyer in the case have to do with it besides acting on their clients behalf? you attack the lawyers for doing what they're paid to do? what do you do for a living? are you a scumbag coder who sends out crappy products because your employer pays you and tells you when to ship the product? are you a sysadmin? should we have open season on all sysadmins because you run a slow network with the resources provided to you by your employer?
you're an idiot thinking that lawyers have all control over this when they work for someone else. mind you, there are bad attorney's out there, just like *EVERY OTHER PROFESSION* who care for nothing but the buck, but that's no reason to post against all of them.
when I got my service from att, I told the local at&t cable internet office manager that I planned to run an ftp server to access files from work... this of course, was in response to his question would I like a static or dynamic ip address... so I took my static as long as I could (till @home died). Since then, I've run an http/ftp server from home and will include mail in the near future...
they're not bad about enforcing it, they're just covering their asses for when someone blatantly abuses their services, then they can come back with their EULA...

Yer an ass... I purchased my new Mac 2 weeks ago, and I'm pretty pissed.. Not everyone buys into the hype surrounding a show, some of us don't have time for that...
I can't say that this is absolutely apalling, or that Apple is running around screwing their "half brained" customers. I'm not going to curse Apple up and down for being the devil, and wrenching cash out of their customers...... but it would be good business practice to give the updates at a reasonable price.
I was hoping that this may allow you to burn a DVD or VCD from the downloaded site but no such luck
Please tell me you're kidding...

If you use a 3rd party to charge your card, such as Paypal, you have almost nothing to stand on when disputing the charge.
That there's a lesson. *NEVER* give up your last rights... :)

Lindows wants to make people use it by giving it away for free and charging you for updates. OS X is $99 with free updates.
Umm... no, they charge you $99 for it, and $99 a year to access free software.
And Apple just released 10.2 (upgrade from 10.1) of their OS X and it cost me $69 (student discount)...
get your facts straight.
Everyone who used to operate on GI Joe figures with a magnifying glass is cheering for this to be commercially successful.
:)
And average-joe affordable...

Don't forget the speed enhancements, Quartz, etc.. wouldn't want those...

I can't get the stream here at work, but I hope someone is watching and will post to /. when/if it's announced...
This would suck. I just purchased my first Apple, and the itools was a selling point... now it goes away/pay? ugh.
