One thing that makes Enterprise much more tolerable from a timeline point of view is to keep in mind the movie First Contact. They tied up a loose end of First Contact and forshadowed an event of TNG with the borg episode.

If you think about it Enterprise, is taking place in an altered timeline from where TOS takes place, all because of that First Contact movie. Given that this is a contaminated timeline I can deal with a little wiggle room for events and it is nice to see referance to TOS and TNG related things still.

I could even deal with the temporal cold war thing, it wasnt the bestest ebber or anything but I have seen worse. I think part of how you view "Trek Time Travel" plots is deeply related to your views on time travel, it's consiquences and what form it should take.

Either you ordered an airstrike and you hit the correct target killing who you intended, or the people you wanted to die were not there, or you ordered the airstrike and hit the wrong target killing people you didnt intend to. If you didnt order any airstrike and some nutjob pilot starts bombing random places, better blow his ass out of the sky if he refuses to obey orders.

    Funny thing.
I'm building my own Time Base Corrector so I can dump some VHS to DVD (these shows and movies will not be ever released I am told by company reps) without Macrovision screwing things up.
Working with the basic chips that do video work, Macrovision compliance is just a signal on a pin to the chip. Simply don't connect the pin and it ignores Macrovision. Recent advances in DRM and video tech will make it harder, but there is no way the signal can not be grabbed, DRM flag removed, and sent out the other side of some circuit. Even with encryption between devices, as long as I can buy encoder/decoder chips and build hardware I can remain free.

DISCLAIMER: I would never build a video device that didn't have the Macrovision or other DRM data ignored, I would never not connect that 1 pin on a chip or use a jumper only to make it comply for legal sales reasons.
