Just because you kill a feature in 'settings' doesnt mean that they have to oblige. You can't see the code so you cannot be sure if changing the settings actually changes anything
When SDN matures fully then carriers will get on board. Then they'll be in a better position to mitigate these attacks through better/faster detection and analysis. This will come as a premium service with a price mark-up obviously.
Every night from 9pm-5am turn off the electricty. Better yet, random rolling blackouts. Let them know what it's like to live somewhere where energy has to be rationed. Kids take it for granted
I have a degree from a Top 25 school. I have maxed out my annual merit raise, annual bonus, and have received 2 small performance bonuses. My performance reviews are near perfect. I make slightly less than median for my title and location, mostly because my peers have a few more years experience than I do. I work for an employer that is widely known and respected in the industry that I work.
For the past 6 months: I've been vocal about my displeasure for the working environment. I've posted publicly viewable resumes on all the big hiring boards. I've added dozens of recruiters to my LinkedIn connections. I've been on numerous call screens and interviews. I've been so brazen as to upload resumes and cruise job listings FROM MY WORKSTATION
Today I turned in my 2 week notice. I've not once heard from HR or a manager about my career path. Management is split between angry and befuddled about this.
@Quirkz,
I had three semesters of Symbolic Logic in college. I didn't realize it then, but they have been the most useful for me in my career as I am a double major in lib arts. In fact, when education comes up in any interview I point it out just so the interviewee is aware that I do have some formal education that is relevant to IT.
I think automating maintenance is a smart move but still requires you be awake and available for it. The question is do you want to be awake at work for 10 minutes or 2 hours? Plan accordingly.
They think they know it.
The truth is this....Telecoms and ISP's cannot keep up with the demand of content providers, especially when any yocal with a celly can now be a content provider. It takes years and gobs of cash to upgrade a network, and before you finish upgrading the network you have to start upgrading the network AGAIN. It never ends. The networks in many cases cannot handle the spike in capacity that we've seen in the past few years which is why now Net Neutrality is a talking point. The pressure is on the telcos to get networks on pace and they cannot do it without more money. Otherwise, everyone will have to wait
There is nothing Neutral about Net Neutrality. Just like 'Climate Change' its a bunch of Orwellian garbage
I believe Austin is ground-zero for worsening water shortages year to year, so if you dont mind having water restrictions and the possibility of water-armageddon, then Austin sounds like a great place to live
My personal theory is that the pleistocene has been so cold because of the historically (4 billion years) high oxygen levels and the significant amount of historical carbon that has been sequestered underground.
Humans are changing that, we're sucking all the sequestered carbon out and putting it into the atmosphere where it hasn't been since the dinosaurs. Before all the science deniers reply....
I wasn't aware that personal theory counts as science

Yes, but if you leave your door unlocked and slightly ajar does give me the right to put a pic of two dudes kissing in your foyer

Yeah, the program will probably just generate another daily email blast to management/HR that will get lost or ignored

We know that this 1.1 Trillion is money the Catro Bros could have used for whatever it is they do
i think it's the idea that net neutrality as policy gives bad decisions the full force of the government
I have to work with unions (telecom). The sooner they die off the better

And it's been happening for billions of years. Nothing we have done or want to to do will ever stop Earth from doing whatever the hell it wants to.
