    IMHO he sounds like an M$ nazi to me... 'linux won't be an OS' and all that ( I paraphrased people, get a grip).. though you make a valid point, but in 6-8 months someone will have figured out how to do the same thing and make a patch/fix and it'll be old news, then you'll need something *else* to pick apart from linux... :)

    they removed the messages and links..'nuff said, obviously /. got scared and ran.. *shrugs* either that or the ISP quietly *removed* the msg's because it figured no one would care to look them up (read also, I am an artist, I have no life ;) ) thereby complying with M$ even though *we* urged /. to fight it.. ah well... c'est la vie noir

    ... doesn't take a rocket scientist d00d... 4.73 reads it fine.. 4.76 does too... you could always DL netscrape 6 and try that though... oh and I think you meant to say 'properly' : ~I am a forgotten God in a world slowly losing it's religion~

I say let everyone choose for themselves what is right for them and keep on coding..     as an *artist* ( and by this I do not mean a generic 'art field' term but instead use the truer term for it, a person who *creates* art, and through their individual aspirations wishes to further the creative field with their individual and unique perspective on life and the world) I can say that I do *NOT* enjoy the term 'artist' being used in such a flagrant and abusive way.. granted some singers aren't all that hot, hell most are only barely able to hold a tune.. but that by no means makes them an artist... it barely makes them a singer... so as an artist (and yes I have written songs, yes I CAN play an instrument, I also draw/paint/sculpt/write) I feel that heaping me in with low talent, lower minded persons like no talent singers is like saying 'homids are all useless, blunt skulled neaderthals' :

    to quote from a mind that said it all, and rather succintly (roughly quoted) " I may not believe in your faith or ideals, but I will fight to the death your right to belive them" and as such is this.. I don't agree with the need to show such things as 'simulated' violence, pornography, etc (or the real thing for that matter) but I'd still fight for the rights of others to show and create such things, as creativity, and imagination should not be infringed upon, no matter the end result. We are talking about liscencing thoughts here.. imagination, creativity. Have we come so far as to say 'you can not think that'? 1984 wasn't just a book.. it was a warning

    It is all free speech, the student in question was given an assignment to write a story. He did that, and for that was incarcerated. so remember folks *don't* do your homework, you'll get arrested. Just because he happened to write the story a little too well, and make it entirely too believeable (read also is a good writer, could possibly have become the next great name in literature) he should be chastised for this. Come on, give me a break, if you think suddenly your a target for the police?? this is a return to the witch hunts of old, both those of the americas and those in europe, for the simple fact that people who *questioned* the word of the establishment were tortured and put to death.. for the simple crime my friends, of thinking.. beware, you ARE next..you think, and are not sheep..:/

    if Be were a platform I could run on a desk top or lap top I would be a Be fan as well anonymous looser ;P.. weriously though, Be has some backing from parts of the comunity who would like to see it's graphical uses exploited to their full potential, and yet we have to deal with an embedded unit for that? *shrugs* I guess art geeks don't count in the 'big' market

    ah but this would mean said user has a fuly configured linux that knows how to connect to the 'net..personal experience with redhat 6.0.. no such luck.. it couldn't identify the modem I was using, hardware issues, and lots of other wonderful (painful hours and hours) worth of pulling out my hair, only to have to go back to windolt and try to read the htmland web pages on the problem..thankfully I was dual Os'ing and wanted to make sure I knew WTFrack I was doing..

    but this still beggars the question of a truely *readable* how-to on doing installs/setup/config et al. Part of the point is how to get the *average* user (read also Win user) to be able to understand even half of what is being talked about in most install manuals.. I"ve read some of the red hat stuff (I was bored..;)) and it read like a VCR manual for the dead... if plain language can be used to point these users towards linux, then IMHO I say all for it.
