See the problem here is establishing who is the customer of advertising. The premise of these things supposes that the user, staring at the screen is the customer being more well informed because he/she/it can quickly access information simply by clicking the link. This is wrong.
You are the product of advertising. Advertisers use flashy attractive things to lure your little eyeballs, count up all eyeballs lured, and sell this as a service.
Going back to the premise, one is not more well informed by being able to click on a link and be sent to a single controlled page containing PAID-FOR information. This is not information. This is advertising.

Anything that turns msnbc or disney into a pr0n site is just ducky.
except when you turn on the common sense filter and realize that even the relatively flat crime numbers are hugely inflated by the War On Drugs(tm) sending huge numbers of nonviolent drug offenders to prison for long terms.

These "fifteen year olds" are simply a nose in the air term for people lesser than we. There are stupid people of all ages, and there are an incredible number of 15yolds who are incredibly intelligent and resourceful. To typify the young as being stupid and out of control is itself stupid and arrogant and sadly been going on for a looooong time..
What africa needs more than internet connection is clean water, stability of government, debt relief, and most of all: peace. This is sort of adding the frosting before baking the cake.
