It's going to be tough for anyone to take away Google's share of the search engine market. With all of the neat little side-projects they have going, their fans tend to be quite rabid when it comes to their search engine preference.
Backward compatibility is the way to go. Nintendo's Game Boy line has benefitted quite a bit by allowing newer machines to play older games. I don't see why it wouldn't also apply to console systems.
Yeah, they're still kicking. They have a decent marketshare in the NIC business, and are also semi-competitive in the workgroup-level switching arena as well.
I've always sworn by their network cards... they're always the first name I turn to.
It'll be interesting to see how this affects their bottom line. Although, most of their revenue probably comes from the ginormous walk-in-freezer-sized systems they sell rather then the OS, but still.
<tongue location="cheek"> Also, I wonder how long it'll take for SCO to find some of their beloved IP in the code... </tongue>
Jabber's slowly been infiltrating the office, and has proven itself to be really handy. It's nice to be able to keep your IM server on the friendly side of your firewall. iChat/OS X Server publicly and proudly supporting Jabber is a great step forward!
I saw the crash live, and figured that with how delicate all of the collectors were being made out to be by the folks doing the reporting, that it would be a near-total loss.
It's good to see that at least some of my tax dollars went into some worst-case scenario planning. =)
Does anyone happen to have a link to the legislation (or at least some info on it, who's behind it, etc?) that's mentioned in the OP? I live in PA, and would like to take a look at it and send my congresscritters some feedback.
I can't count the number of times I've gotten lost following a recipe in a real cook book, but these things take a lot less time to read, and look like they'd be a lot easier to follow throughout the process.
Plus, they're a lot more compact than a written-out recipe. That means I can fit more of them in my recipe bo...
That way it'll eventually turn into a sociology geek/grad student's wet dream. I can see the thesis now... "Influence of Operating System Preference on PKilling Style"
First, I'm not sure if it was exactly 15 days, but they also broke for the season halfway through his run.
Now, whether or not the show's "seasons" actually match the taping schedule is a whole different ball of "What is wax?"... but it'd be interesting to find out.
I had the pleasure(?) of being off on a sick day yesterday, so I was able to watch the landing live. I felt terrible when the thing hit, I can only imagine what the folks who've been involved with this thing for several years must have felt. It'd be great to see something useful come out of the whole project.
You know, my local radio station's morning guys were reporting that he had lost on like... day 15 of his streak. They obviously were accounting for the pre-taping and all, but I'm glad to see he keeps going.
Jeopardy just won't be as fun to watch after he's gone. Ken's converted Jeopardy from an interesting game-show to a serious spectator sport in my house. It just won't be the same.
Like firefox's address bar already does? Type in a word or phrase and hit enter and you're directed to the equivalent of an "I'm feeling lucky" search on whatever you typed.
He let his pilot's certification lapse because of a skipped medical exam, was only in the middle of his class academically, and missed some sort of critical readiness drill.
For a dead project, they sure release a lot of betas...
Long live BSD! =)
Space elevator, here we come!

Is Google vs. A9 the next vi vs. emacs?

On Microsoft products, porn screws YOU!

This covers my question (and more) and is worded better to boot.... mod up!
What's your view on the Patriot act? What, if any, parts do you think need to be changed, and why?

Thanks!
Those charts are genious.

What I want to know is... are either of them Eagle Scouts?

Now, if only this could be extended to include IT studies. I wonder how many studies people run that show that their product isn't that hot.
On second thought, they're all funding their own studies, so it's probably a non-issue.

Not that I know of. Got any friends in the US? You could probably have it shipped to them.

Here's a good link to diveintopython.org. The one at the end of the review is horked.

Sure, but we also need to have a second planet to live on. If our only inhabitable planet is horked, what good is the bucket o' DNA?
FYI, there's going to be a press conference at 2:00PM EST. I know at least CNN will be covering it, for those of us who don't get NASA TV.
