Well, if it's never going to happen here, then it's never going to happen anywhere. Space it just too big for us to ever get past the Kupier Belt, let alone another even vaugly hospitipal place like Mars. And having a large "space station" type setup only makes sense if we are using it to get somewhere else.

  6. What happened to Ramdrive? on The State of Solid State Storage · · Score: 2, Interesting

Back in the DOS 5 and 6 days, I used to make an 8 meg ramdrive, copy the X-wing game files to that and run from there. No load times for the cut scenes or new missions, and I still had 8 meg to use for regular memory. X-wing only used 4 meg with all the options, so as long as I could get 620K free I was good to go.

You would get pretty much the same reaction for any penalty. Proves nothing.

Sounds like a perfectly ... modest proposal.

Not written in the same spirit, but we can treat it like it was, and maybe it'll help people come to a conclusion of what the penalty should be.

  10. Keep brain fit with Alcohol on Keep Fit Program For The Brain · · Score: 5, Funny

Alcohol kills brain cells, it's true. But it kills the weakest and most poorly adapted ones, just like Darwin says. That leaves your good brain cells unencumbered by the dead weight cells and they can function at full capacity.

They don't yet know how to deal when one person becomes both, so you get these tortured attempts at DRM, legislation, etc.
