I was wondering....if these sites just started posting magnet URI links to distributed hash networks like the one that azureus now uses, is that illegal?
Since Azureus supports distributed trackerless torrents and magnet link URI's, as long as the magnet link is avaiable somewhere (usenet, google web cache, ect...) torrent swarms will continue to exist....even if these sites are down..
All we need now is for the web sites that are left to post the magnet links....then all you need to do is search for them on google..
If you accept the premace...that there are an infinite amount of universes and that time is infinte...then the Star Wars Universe DOES exist somewhere sometime.
There was an article (I think it was in National Geo) talking about the current thinking that there may infact me Universes where the laws of physics are different than our own...radically so.

I bought my tickets for a time after work. Why does one need to take off work just to see it. I don't know about most slashdotters...but my vacation and sick time are combined. So taking off a day to see ST:ROTS seems a bit expensive since that's paid leave I would be burning.
I used to buy songs off of itunes, but then I realized that I can buy just about ANY CD used for MUCH less off of Amazon. Plus the quality is going to be better than the compressed formats.
If you are willing to wait instead of the "I need it NOW" mentality, you can save yourself a ton of money and have music without DRM and at a better quality.
BUT...if you HAVE to have it NOW...then you have to put up with all of the BS that music download services shove...unless allofmp3.com has a flac version of what you need.....
What will be interesting is how well it works when we get a story where the site is slashdotted. If google's web cache works correctly it could be as effective or more effective than the coral web cache system
Interestingly enough...my mail is IMAP based, and I noticed that mac mail works with with it AND it does work with spotlight after you enter each folder it seems to download a scanned index of the mail...
Here's the interesting thing...I did fire up the new Mac mail client and since I use an IMAP mail account I did'nt think it would index my mail, but it did!
The only reason why I have not tried to switch to mac mail are two things.....if anybody can tell me how to do it I'd be grateful!
1. no multiple personalities like in thunderbird where you can choose which return address you want to put in your email (in thunderbird it's a drop down widjet)
2. I have my imap folder structure within a sub folder on the LINUX server where it sits ~/mail. I changed the IMAP folder prefix under the advanced preferences of mac mail but it did'nt take and all my hidden files and other files at the root of my home directory shows up in the folder list...and there does not seem to be any way to keep them from showing (like unsubscribing!).
Does anybody know how developers can integrate their apps into Spotlight? I don't use Mac Mail and would love to be able to search my mail with Thunderbird.
Oh I can wait....it's just fustrating that beta versions of Tiger have been out long enough that they (CISCO) should have it done by now (in my opinion)
Evidentally there is enough of "under the hood" changes to the kernel network API's that CISCO's VPN client is incompatible. CISCO is working on it reportedly but it will not be out before the end of May. This is a MAJOR show stopper for Tiger deployment where I work.
If you constantly were swimming in a pool on a luxury cruise ship...if the cruise ship made it to the U.S. would that qualify as "Swimming to the U.S."

Any information if this affects regular mozilla?
IN case of slashdotting use Google Web Accelerator...

Works for me....must be some bad joo joo you've built up over the years :)

I have this strange recollection of Edward I calling the scottish nobles into a hut and then blocking the door and then burning down the hut.....

Thunderbird is NOT a MS product! Its a product of the Mozilla foundation!
I would LOVE to be able to search my mail with spotlight...but I can't yet find a thunderbird plugin....sadness overwhelms me

oh well....

You can if you are not using group authentication. Many shops use CISCO with group authentication enabled. The Tiger VPN does not support that.

I'm NOT DISSING GREENLAND! It's just there's nothing written as to WHY they decided to ski there!
Geeze...modded a TROLL just for asking for a little information on the GOOD parts of Greenland that I'm unaware of..

Everything I've ever been taught or read has told me greenland is a pretty boring place.
If Apple had any sense they would of ignored it, now it will sell like mad because Apple dissed it.
Well..Duh...so was my reply! :)
Cool analysis though...
Ummm...you still have to WRITE all those tapes out and then READ them back in again. Factor THAT in and THEN compare
