  1. Re:Another strategy on Existing Drugs Fight Antibiotic-Resistant Bugs · · Score: 4, Insightful

Seem quite simple, doesnt it? The fact that cattle, fish and shrimp feed in asia have huge amounts of antibiotics as a "preventive" measure to keep the animal from going sick, and the resistance the bacteria gain dealing in that sick field, and whatever trickles up the food chain doesnt seem to bother anyone, has long money is made. And nobody will care until it is too late. Big pharma also doesnt care, quite by the contrary the patents have long expired, and antibiotics are bought by the shovel, as soon as they stop working they will have then gov "fund" to further develop very expensive nanomeds. This seems like a stupid plot from a bad scifi movie.

A puny 100 USD is not a justification to buy a far less inferior product. Apple is shooting itself in the foot not creating a plastic/less platform cheap alternative i.e. an android killer. The ones that wanted a superior product and to be stylish, that have the disposable income, would go to the metal version. An opportunity is being lost here, because as I once witnessed, the university/teen crowd with less income is going to android, because it is *cheaper*.

And yet you don't get it. Unless it is for the gimmick of paying far more for a phone tied for a contract for 2 years, it doesn't make sense to buy crap just to save only 100 USD. 100USD is nothing, specially considering it 1/6 of the price. There are actually people paying more in the black market for 5Ss bought in the US while they are not sold worldwide. The C is 5C doesnt stand for cheap, stands for crap. And not, I am not an Apple basher, I have an iPad, an SSD Macbook Pro, and an Apple TV.

The problem is not rather the 5C not being sold well because being of "plastic", but rather because it is brain-dead to expect people to pick up yesterdays technology for a meagre 100 dollars. They would do better using the manufacturing resources of the 5C to ramp up 5S production.

Note, you don't need to generate a fingerprint, this are mathematical functions that should match unknown fingerprints to "known" individuals. What can possibility we do with this valuable data? Are data privacy alien concepts to you? Are you joking with me? Do you work for a gov agency? People arent that stupid. Actually, with such a small difference in price, it is idiotic to run two different production lines. Shame for apple, with a half price unit, they would still have the people who wants the latest and to be trendy, that would bought the 5S, and they would kill the rest of the mobile market with a *really* low cost device.
