    You might follow up your news stories with the retractions. The "before the hacks went public" turned out to be a wrong date (they were AFTER they went public). The "2 pleading guilty" were process-crimes....Hillary's girlfriend committed the same (or worse)--that just came out, just wasn't reported on the news sources you listen to. It's WRONG for the FBI to be paying ($$ or labor) or opposition research. Uh....it's wrong for Trump to "contact the Russians" (not proven), but it is ok for Clinton to do the same (Ukraine, but same principal)? BTW, the sky is kinda bluish-gray, with some white.

    It's insulting and juvenile...but not hate speech. Go ahead and say it, I'll just ignore you. Unlike a lot (not all) of atheists who brand any religious speech as "hate speech" or "illegal". (see: CT lawmakers who helped out the Salvation Army and got condemned by "freedom from religion" and multiple other examples.)

    Except we're not talking "yells fire". We're talking "Yells ". In that case I can see 'disturbing the piece' (though with the movies today, it might be an improvement to the plot...); but not 'Hate Speech'.

    Except if they had jumped right in, the *Germans* didn't have enough inventory to fight the war (Rhineland, Austria, maybe Sudentenland)....the Brits/French waited long enough for Germany to build up their forces, and we saw the results (Poland/France/etc).

    The difference being that "alt-right extremists" (using CNN lingo) tend to condemn idiots like this swatter. Alt-Left extremists (i.e., antifa and their ilk) praise their idiots.

    If you're going to do that, why not just put a light rail down the middle w crossover/unders? It doesn't have to be an elevated monorail--very little impact to the view. Hey, why not just cross in front of cars? High-stakes gambling at it's best!

    I was there for a business trip, and at the time the monorail was free. I took it one time just "because it was there" (I like to ride trains). After that I found it too much trouble to mess with. And no way would I pay anything to ride it!

    To be honest, the number of Americans who've mentioned to me they've used "Imperial measures" (or not) is a big, fat 0. When they say "Gallon", they probably don't care what gallon it is. And those who do, don't care. It just happens to be a convenient measure, nothing more. That's likely the main reason common day use of non-SI units hasn't taken hold--inertia. Inches/feet don't bother me (I'm a woodworker). Wait to you throw things in like 4/4 and 8/4 and bdft in the mix, if you want some conversion fun. On the other hand, TSP and TBSP and all that nonsense can go in the garbage (not trash) can ASAP!

    I used some not-good-enough welding glass. I knew it wasn't dark enough so only did it for a quick glance--it was still painful enough not to want to stare at it. Much easier on the eyes to look at the shadows on the ground. And more impressive--didn't expect crescent shadows.

    "best interest in mind" by govt is pretty much indistinguishable from that of Big Corporation (tm). Since both are run by people who desire wealth/power/both. The big difference is that those in power in a govt are more likely to use the Men with Guns (instead of just lawyers--not sure which is worse) to get their way.

    uh, if you attempt to opt-out-of-govt, you will get to meet the men with the guns. Where can you really opt-out, besides maybe Antartica or that little strip of land between Egypt and Sudan?

  18. I'm sitting in a well-taxed city. The roads are full of potholes (gravel or even dirt would be better). If you drive in most parts of this city you risk a drive-by shooting (thankfully their shooting is inaccurate). If you are so foolish as to walk to your car after dark you have a very good chance of getting mugged. I'll give you the phone/internet service....for now. Hospital? Well, if you can make it from the parking lot to the entrance with out getting high-velocity lead poisoning... CAN I GET MY TAXE$ REFUNDED, PLEASE?!

  19. Maybe "10's of millions", but a declining "10's of millions"--never a good thing when you're trying to make money. When the talk is all about protests and not "who's winning/losing", you hurt your product. Personally, I'd rather them just play football--when watching a game I'd rather not mix politics in it. The whole point is to escape from the non-stop protests about just about everything. You can wait and protest/not protest after the game. This goes for things I may support. Since they won't, I've got better things to do.

    "Can you expound on 'Thanksgiving is white privilege'", or does the student just repeat tired-old-arguments--or simply responds with profanity when challenged? Or violence? Universities are supposed to make you reason about your views, not just repeat talking points. Oh, as for native americans...what they should be thinking is "I no longer have to worry about the tribe next door putting me through torture rituals if I get captured". Eastern tribes tended to be pretty violent; though not as bad as the meso-american ones. The "European Tribes" simply won the latest war and imposed a peace. People tend to be people, regardless of skin color...

    You're probably joking, but lets assume you're not. Ever try to put a trailer in a shipping container? You end up shipping a lot of air across the Pacific. Otherwise I'd bet the Chinese would be doing this! Now, if we could make assemblies, ship them and put them together over here, you might have something: Made in USA (some foreign parts).

    Having spent a few years in a trailer when first starting off (Cheaper than an apartment, more room, and NO LANDLORD!), I looked at all ranges of trailers. At that time (1980s) double-wides were as expensive as low-end houses. Without the houses' ability to appreciate Bad Idea.. So I went with a 14x80 and put it on a piece of land. Actually was one of the best financial decisions I made, as I sold it as owner-financed, and broke even on the trailer (i.e., free home for a few years). As of a couple years ago the trailer still looked in decent shape, despite several Cat-4's and Katrina.
