  8. And it will keep them out of trouble. The original post actually was used by a famous democrat president...you know, FDR? Funny how democrats now disparage that. I'm not sure I personally agree with CCC and other similar programs being constitutional, but at least it gave some (not all) people money for doing something productive.

While living there I heard they buried a wagon wheel in the center of Dallas. The spokes became the major roads, and the crossing roads became loops. Probably not true, but makes a good story. In Richardson/Plano the traffic was a mess back then. Don't get me started about Arapaho! This was before George Bush, but they did have the frontage roads built. I stayed off LBJ as well--surface streets, though a mess, where still quicker.

This. If you've got to slash costs, easy way to do it is kill off the older guy$ and gal$ who are making more buck$ then the younger folks. Better yet, ease them into retirement or buy them off so they don't raise a fuss like this guy. Govt has done this quite a bit. Bonuses for getting out/early retirement. The military even had "selective early retirement" boards. You can even get rid of some useless folks (ever try to fire someone from the Gov?). The problem is you lose a lot of expertise, too.

In many cases commutes over here would extend beyond the borders of Estonia. Not an insult, just a fact. Orders of magnitude of people more over here, too. And BTW, the USA pays a lot more to keep that bear on the other side of the border ON the other side of that border than Estonia does (or for that matter, the rest of NATO).
