  1. But how does having Asian CEOs living in America go against that stated definition of a civic society for a country like America whose foundation is immigration and the melding of cultures?

America's culture is that it's a melting pot of cultures. Always has been and always will be. You respect and protect that by allowing other cultures to continue to immigrate and contribute to that culture.

That's unfortunate but I wonder if it's really that uncommon for reporters to give their recurring subjects heads up, perhaps to keep them as future sources. And the paper still reported the news. Contrast that will the selective disclosure we see on the TV news outlets.

Try reversing the question - what about a CEO being Asian would detract from a civic society in America? I asked myself the question and couldn't come up with an answer that didn't lean racist in construction. But I'm open to ideas in case my imagination is limited on the topic...

Not to say the newspapers I listed are not without their own institutional bias but at least they have actual investigative journalists on the payroll and at least try to be objective.

Raising taxes doesn't make it colder out but the system of cap-and-trade (which most call taxes) does create financial incentives/disincentives to account for the environmental cost of using polluting sources of energy. Absent that system, power companies and manufacturers will use the cheapest source of energy they can find, which usually correlates to the most polluting source of energy. For those who think this interferes with the free market, Milton Friedman was a proponent of a cap-and-trade system and he was a staunch supporter of the free market with near-zero governmental interference.

Phone would randomly shutdown even though battery was 40%+ per the iOS UI. If I then tried to power it back up I would get the big charging icon, implying that the battery was completely drained. If I then charged the battery for just 5 minutes the phone would work fine and allow the battery to be discharged from its previously indicated 40%+ as expected. Based on my observations it appeared to be an intermittent problem with the power gauge firmware mistakenly detecting the battery as depleted and engaging the Li-Ion full-discharge protection logic as a result.

I brought mine to the Genius bar and of course all their battery diagnostics showed nothing wrong. Took three return attempts before they finally agreed to replace my phone even though it was still under warranty. This guy wasn't as persistent as me:
