I left California a few years back as it was no longer a place where I felt comfortable living. I felt that the overall community was going in a direction that would exclude me so I decided to "jump Ship". Most people dont realize that by living in a community you are investing your life into its direction and overall outcome (either through taxes, relationships, voting, commerce or overall community support). When things go in a direction that is 180 degrees from what you believe in and you dont see that it will correct its direction then you most likely need to start over. Life is too short to live where you do not belong and to stay will be to live in conflict. It doesnt matter which side of the coin you are on this is a big, diverse country and I believe people should "get in where you fit in".
I have a few friends that got hit with the retroactive (facebook) tax in California and they are leaving as well. They arent moving over taxes, just (like myself) they would rather their time, money and effort go towards a community that is better aligned with their beliefs.
Might be better to create a biometric mechanism that "excludes" people from using the firearm. That way if it detects your child holding it then it will not fire. For you, your wife, whoever else it will work normally. Just thinking out loud....
I have an idea for an invention that I think I could build to make the AR15 safer, but I'm reticent to do anything with it because of the dominance of patent trolls in America and their ability to squash little guys like me. The free market could likely respond with some innovative concepts if we had patent reform.
I had an idea to make an ar15 safer but Makerbot censored me so I cant 3d print the prototype:(
I would insist on a system of gravity credits to offset the damage its presence does to all of the planets in the solar system when it moves about. Then we can feel good about all of the earthquakes and floods since we have a warm fuzzy pocket full of empire responsibility that we can trade amongst ourselves.
Rich people live on the coast and poor people live further inland. The way I see it the rich people will lose their land and have to buy beachfront property from the poor people. Robin Hood economics FTW!!!
odd but it seems to me that coal usage has increased ever since we discovered it and so has our average life spans. It seems that the dilution argument would have some data that is at odds with it. I dont really care either way but I generally dont go for reasoning that starts with a "you cant measure it so we have no correlation data but trust me its there" foundation.
The reason 'why' things are bad does not matter to the people funding startups.... it really doesnt matter. Let me put it this way... I don't care if the hurricane and flooding is natural or was caused by global warming... I'm not going to build a house on the beach in florida.
Its just a bad idea right now and I do not loan or invest when the odds are against me.
I can not blame them. I would not consider investing until this economic shitstorm is sorted out. If you have money and you truly think things are going to get real crappy soon you would wait also.
You have better odds in vegas than with a random startup right now....
, which is subsidized by the electricity consumers (NOT by the government, as some seem to think).
this is the same thing. The government collects taxes from the people and gives it as a subsidy to the power company and tells them to buy renewable power... OR... they give no subsidy to the power company and tells them to buy renewable energy and then they charge the people more to offset the cost of it.
Its money taken from us by the government to pay for something they want and we have no choice. That is how a tax/subsidy scheme works. It makes the government look good for keeping "taxes" low while making corporations look "greedy and evil" for jacking up their rates
These are not the droids you are looking for (waves hand)....
There is no country in the world that you would want to live in that has a free market health care system.
I dunno, it seems like alot of people like living in the US. Are you implying that our borders are so tight that all 300+ million people here are trapped?
there are not many people i would have liked less to watch debate but I watched anyway.
The only thing I left with that is new was that Biden is a rude, interrupting asshole. Outside of that.... meh... nothing to see here... same stuff from both
Also, some research showed that drivers overtook helmeted cyclists with less room compared to unhelmeted cyclists, i.e. the drivers take a higher risk because they assume the helmet is protecting the cyclist.
I personally think this is crap but since there is no "IQ test" required to drive a car anything is possible
I get the impression that a number of car drivers are more hostile towards "serious" cyclists than "casual" cyclists (my choice of words). That is, they resent lycra-clad, helmet-wearing cyclists going fast on racing bikes, and are more accepting towards people in ordinary clothes on modest bikes. That might partially explain the result you report.
This on the other had I agree with. This group of bike riders has an unacceptable asshole ratio.
Outside of that I would not ride my bike with one of those silly helmets riding around town. I dont think they do crap anyway. I will sometimes wear a full faced motocross helmet off road if it is appropriate for the level of ride I have planned. Anyway, my choice and not up to some macro government tool that is trying to appease another group of macro assholes trying to make some "change".
If I were Apple I wouldn't give a rats ass what the EU wants. There isn't a law that requires them to use USB so they should do what the decide is the best way to go. Random countries in Europe are always flogging apple in their courts over stupid shit so I would have told them to piss off as well.
Never let the government dictate what is the best course of action for anything. They really suck at it.
dont do it. if you name a dark rock after a black kid you will be labeled a racist and lose your budget.... for god sakes think of the children!!!

no, no the real answer is to put a v-chip in the guns!!

What you describe is my understanding of the role of government. To protect one man from another.

I agree with this. Critical thinking should be applied to your side as well as "the other guy I hate".
... just stop eating meat.
yeah.... im gonna have to say fuck that....
Bottom line is, if you can't afford insurance, you have no business getting free health care financed by the rest of us. Find a free clinic.
And who pays for this "free" clinic?
WTF does this have to do with TFA about Romney and space? This is why I dont like reading /. anymore
we just need to produce some more co2 to feed them. problem solved.... you're welcome :)
