A working pen so that I can annotate and highlight PDFs with something close to resembling handwriting. Instead of fingerpainting.
Doesn't every touchscreen already work with a stylus?
The concept is a pen that you use that is not like fingerpainting or writing with a thick crayon. The two technologies that are possible are : resistive screens -- forget it too many negatives; and digitizers like used with graphics tablets -- the two companies that produce that technology are wacom and n-trig.
Until the Galaxy Note 10.1 I did not want a tablet because 80% oi the things I wanted it for I couldn't do due to the lack of a decent stylus. Other then that. USB port, bluetooth,.SD or microSD slot, one camera preferably two, GPS plus.
One thing that would really be nice--an exchangable battery.
Uhm. I found the solution to that is to call the person three days later in the early morning ( since that is most likely when they sleep ), "let me talk to the idiot who called John/Mary at whatever time, woke me up which caused me to be late for work, which caused me to get fired.".
Anonymous is probably going to be a bit like Batman. At first Batman is Bruce Wayne, but then the Wayne version of Batman dies. Then Robin John Blake becomes Batman and Batman reemerges but with different villains.
The present leadership of Anonymous is scattered, some ( as reported by Ars ) are on the lam, others have simply retired and taken a reduced role. Eventually a group of people will realize that Anonymous would be a good organization to fight for their cause and they will resurct Anonymous, and bring in new tools.
The thing is, the only reason the evidence was iffy at all was because they didn't have a body, whose importance itself is kind of an artifact of law--although it's very important in some cases, I don't think many people would credibly think that Nina just up and left the country and her kids with nothing more than the clothes on her back.
Most acquaintances of serial killers say that they cannot believe anything like that of the killer. People behave in strange ways. Maybe she was homesick. Maybe her boyfriend was a closet sadist and she felt the only way to escape was to flee the country. Maybe a deer hunter accidentally shot her and decided to hide the body.
One thing that is certain, if she had shot Hans in front of witnesses, her Russian roots would have been enough to deny her bail or at least set an extremely high one, due to the fact that her Russian roots would have made her a flight risk. If a person may flee to escape a murder conviction they may flee for a lot of other reasons. I also note that in the last few years we have had a large number of people who have goon missing only to learn later that they fled.
Yes.Without attention whores we would have nothing to do except read books, go visit friends, go out shopping, learn to play the guitar ( instead of just pretending with guitar hero ), introduce ourselves to neighbors...
I would think the witnesses seeing him hose out the blood from his car, or the fact that he somehow misplaced the passenger seat, would be pretty good clues.
I thought the witness only saw him hose out his car with no actual mention of blood. If the witness saw something more then water (blood) he couldn't have testified that it was for example paint or wine. BTW since she was strangled there shouldn't be much of her blood outside the body. He didn't misplace his seat he said he deliberately threw it out because he needed more room.
But when he lead them to the body, that was a dead giveaway.
Except that the jury didn't know that he lead them to the body because he lead them to the body after the trial. Look, I'm not saying he didn't do it. He clearly did, and frankly I am glad he is in jail. However, when you look at the evidence and compare it to say: a hot hot young woman whose daughter goes missing; who not only doesn't report it for six weeks but actually goes out partying during those six weeks; whose daughter is finally reported missing by her mother; said daughters body turning with duct tape on her mouth and an autopsy determines that her death was a homicide -- then why was Reiser found guilty but she found not guilty?
The evidence in her case was much stronger then in his case, so I have to concluded he was convicted because he behaves weirdly. I behave weirdly.and it bothers me that a jury might one day take my weird behavior and use it to convict me of a crime.
In any case I started this to make a simple joke that McAfee was doing a much better job of eluding jail then Reiser did. Sorry that the thread turned to such a glum direction.
Yes, some of the Fundamentalists are hard-line Catholics and those ones are arguably hypocritical about it, but they're the minority.
Hard-line Catholics can hardly be called Fundamentalists. In some aspects they totally agree but in other aspects they strongly differ. It is also not very fair to call a certain sector of hard-line hypocritical about this issue. Specifically the "Malachi Martin" "many priests are not good catholics much less good priests" sector of the hard-liners.
And the flavors of Christian churches that don't teach clerical celibacy are strangely unblighted by pedophilia scandals -- almost as though limiting sex to marriage is less psychologically harmful than total sexual repression,
An unfair and inaccurate representation and example of false causation inferred from a maively correlation. " Flavors of Christian churches that don't teach clerical celibacy" basically means Catholicism. However in no other religious organization is the priesthood so tightly bonded to the organization. Catholic priests are told where to live and work by the Catholic hierarchy. Their needs are almost completely provided for by the Catholic hierarchy. In turn priests run the Catholic Church. You do not see such interreliance in any other religious organization.
Naturally a portion of priesthood being involved in a scandal is going to reflect on the Catholic Church, especially when the hierarchy covers it up. However, it is not clear that you can attribute it to celibacy. We have recently seen an organization of men which do not practice celibacy involved in a similar albeit smaller scandal, specifically the Pen State athletic department. Furthermore in many sects of Buddhism the priesthood is required to be celibate, but I haven't seen any pedophile scandals in Buddhism.
I can't figure out what Gordon is arguing, what Krugman is arguing and what ninguna is arguing. So I can't say who is right.
However, the very young tablet market, where apps which take advantage are still immature, and the growing excitement about developing new tablets and apps for them [1] and the Raspberry Pi along with copycat boards are showing there is a lot of energy still in the sector and very likely that energy will generate some major economic effects. It's like the Desktop "PC" ( microcomputer) and servers made up the third industrial revolution and the "SoC" is making up the fourth.
[1] Kind of reminds my of the pre PC microcomputer days.
That must be an newer version of the license. I remember when Borland said you could have multiple copies installed as long as you made certain that only one person was using it at a time.
What I hate these urban myth sites is that so many of their entries seem to be of the form this is/kinda/sorta/not really an urban myth.
The quote maybe off. ( OK they checked Nazi speachs, did they check out speachs made by officials of Weimar Republic ? ) But the fact is that gun control did help the Nazi's obtain and consolidate power.
The two fact ( as claimed by the article ). 1) Most Gernans could not obtain a gun. 2) Nasis found ways around the law.
But I got by with a high-end PC from 10 years -- 10 years ago. If I needed to I could still get by with that high-end PC -- I managed then. Not only that but I got by quite well! The only reason to not like that approach is to stay on Microsoft more and more bloated bloatware.
I can't say what other people will want. ( ATM the moment I am in a one person household and my computing needs are very different from other types of households. ) I see this as the ideal setup for me. A single desktop which basically acts as my personal cloud server/NAS/remote desktop server/local workstation ( with RK-9000 keyboard/couple of monitors ), 2 Pi like machines: one as a mail retriever/imap server, the second one as XBMC/DVR, then a couple of tablets both with pens (ala the Galaxy Note series ) andkeyboard ala the Asus Transformer series.
Before I post what I wanted a little thought about motivation.
Why print this map? Why not print for example a map of all people buying ARM programming books from Amazon. The simplest answer "to sell more newspapers" doesn't hold water. I would want be more likely to buy the newspaper if it had the ARM map. While I admit that I am atypical in that way, I suspect that the number of extra newspapers sold would not outweight the number of subscriptions lost. ( Sales vs subscriptions being a asymmetrical measure. A lost subscription costs way more then a single sale makes. ) I think that a good lawyer will make a good case that their motives were malicious.
If I were the lawyer of the newspaper, I would tell the head honchos to pray that no one gets killed during a burglary and the burglar gets caught with thtat map on him. The wrongful death suit could be disastrous for them.
Now on with my post.
First they came for the smokers and I didn't say anything because I did not smoke
Then they came for the heavy drinkers and I didn't say anything because I did not drink much
Then they came for the cheese and fast food eaters and I didn't say anything because I did not eat fast food
Then they came for the gun owners and I didn't say anything because I did not own a gun.
Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak for me.
1) people must be made to do the work that everyone hates.
And that's exactly the problem with MBA types. They see jobs that they have to force people to do..So they have to find ways of enslaving people without calling it slavery. ( Cause we know slavery is bad, so if we engage in it we can't call it that.) Furthermore they have to make people who will do it-- ie a social class to enslave.
Of course once they create the social class they have to find ways to keep the jobs around to employ these people they created to do the job in the first place!
The economist or engineer would look at it differently and the toilet cleaning example is a perfect example. Without creating a social class to do this jobs, you would have to find some people to do the work. Most likely younger people because they are hungrier. If the job is really distasteful then the salaries will be high.
To the MBA, keeping salaries low is a reason to create a slave class, as I detailed above. To an economist or engineer, it will create pressure to create easier to clean toilets and machines to that can do most of the work of cleaning toilets. Probably be a ex-toilet-cleaners and their supervisors.
To sum up the MBA sees toilet cleaning as an opportunity to hire people to build up his little fiefdom. The intelligent part of society sees it as a place where inovation is needed to improve the quality of life.
the researchers all have IQs someplace around 90-100. Since they have slightly lower then average IQs they invented a test to show that IQ doesn't matter, so that they feel much better.

Actually Microsoft Security Essentials and Microsoft in geeneral are what keeps McAfee in business.
But most of his investments are still probably company stock. So tarnishing the brand would hurt him.
Then why not get a cheap $10 standalone Nic card and just nmot use the one built into the mobo?
You can easily find linux compatible cards.

The patents already invalidated were challenged anonymously too. Why challenge anonymously? I don't see any particular benefit.

How about a week long trip to a spa for Ma. So he can spend more time with his wonderful toys.
