    ... if they would be distinguishable from "biological" species. I.e. what if they genetically engineer bodies as a housing (kinda "reverse cyborg") and push that to the limit -> in the end you'll end up with a self-programming biological body which has its roots in highly advanced robotics and noone would be any the wiser.

    i.e. if a patent is not used in an actual product it will go invalid after a short amount of time. I think a year or two at most should be sufficient. Same should go for copyright obviously. If the owner is not interested in doing reprints then it should be allowed for others to do so.

    for me the the annoyance comes more from me myself trying to be very short and concise (and precise) with my words, and hating the content-less blabla that most people produce. That said, I enjoy reading literature quite a lot and do so daily during commuting.

    1) huge -> ok, I can live with that
    2) ugly -> there are really neat cases which do not look like a 12 year olds wet dream
    3) noisy -> a noisy pc is a bad pc. get a good case with vibration absorbers, get rid of your 60mm fans in favor of 120s or even 180s and run them on 1/4 the speed -> silent.

    assuming the issue is really the tools are lost and not "lost" (i.e. taken home), a simple scale that weights the whole box would be way easier to implement and more robust -> one button to "take measurement" before starting work, one to "check" when on the way out, will tell you "something is missing", "everything cool" or actually "you packed half of your customers tools as well".

Jeah, I'm a socialist european hippie who lives in a big city with useful public transportation. Deal with it. The two times a year I actually transport something other than myself I can rent whatever car I like and still get away with 95% winnings over owning a car (and esp. paying for all the crap like insurance and gas).

    For heating, a stove is great, both when it comes to any supposed outages (also of electricity) as well as making for really cosy living. Also wood is pretty cheap and a renewable energy source.

    Depends on if you are more afraid of a power outage or gas crysis ;) You can also use bottled gas for most gas stoves (though you need to configure them for it) which makes you more independent from short-term outages.

    this is actually also wrong for mechanical watches, as they take a constant amount of energy. So no matter how many times you look at the watch and do other things, you can be sure you don't have to rewind outside of your usual schedule (which is normally once in the morning, and takes no 30 seconds, and you don't even have to take off the device). So Apple's Watch is even a step back from mechanical watches.

    and you totally didn't ever have to read any man-pages to get what the bash script does ... jeah right ... on the premise of having to learn what both scripts do starting from zero, I am pretty sure the systemd version would win by a huge margin. Its just people being lazy and pissed off that they have to actually educate themselves about new stuff.
