Even if, and that's a big if, their pay is only a decimal percentage of their expenditures, I still say do it. Using percentages in this argument is smoke and mirrors. If you say it's only 0.1% well that doesn't sound like much at all does it? But when an absolute figure is thrown out there we see the real picture. Say just one CxO's pay is $500k. 5 Hundred Thousand is a fuck load of money for most people. If that company got a work contract for 500k they'd be partying like it's 1999! But then they want us lowly peons to not worry about that 500k salary cause it's just chump change. However, they then turn around and tell us that they are gonna have to trim the fat by laying off a bunch of folks, cancelling all of our vacation and raises, and oh BTW, you guys will have to go without toilet paper in the bathrooms too. That was the popular birth of drifting before anyone in the US had even thought about making Fast and the Furious. Won't work. This falls into a category woman deal with all the time. In order to psychologically attract a buyer, many companies will sell tent size dresses that are only a size 6. No 2 company's size 6 will be the same either so it makes fitting a chore. A man with a small penis who's self conscious about it will not buy a 3", he'll want the 12" (even though it is actually a 3) and you'll find companies who will advertise "Our size 6's are bigger than all the competition!" Since this sort of thing is already common, and people are generally averse to change at all, I will hypothesize that the exact same thing will happen that happens now: some people will sue the automaker, some judges will throw it out, some will award, some people will not care they hit anything at all, some will make an insurance claim. I struck a buzzard, known by many as a vulture, which is the size of a turkey/condor and can actually fly in a 2001 Hyundai Tiburon. I was doing about 60 and what I saw amazes me to this day. This windshield is sloped but not at a terribly shallow angle and it has a large curved radius across the whole thing so there are no flat areas. When I hit it, the windshield bowed in so far I could visibly see the deformation but due to the shatterproofing plastic sandwiched in there (my theory), the window sprung back out to it's proper shape and catapulted that bird forward onto the road. I looked that ugly bastard right in his beady little eyes because I was sure he'd be sitting in the passenger seat but car windshields are much stronger than most give them credit for. Not one crack in that windshield either. It's almost like the engineers, who are experts in their field, designed the thing for that very purpose. Like maybe they know what the hell they are doing and maybe we should leave them the fuck alone to do what they do best without all the second guessing and naysaying. I, like you, don't worry one damned bit about our coming robotic overlords, and actually look forward to it!
If you want to make an improvement in lives saved, invent a better car interlock. Thirty-one percent of all fatal crashes involved alcohol-impaired driving (over the.08 limit). 31% is a big number. Teaching people how to drive in the rain would take out another 9 or 10%.

Seeing as how backup cameras for vehicles can be had for $20 these days, I would imagine the expense of adding a dozen or so cameras around a vehicle would not be detrimental especially if the engineers can keep the bean counters happy. Not having multimillion lawsuits for running over little Johnny should keep the bean counters happy.
