I waited in Walmart the eve of Aug. 24th 1995. I bought Windows 95 and Plus for Windows 95. It wasn't that bad of an OS, much better than Windows 3.1 or 98. However, once they tried integrating IE into the OS to kill Netscape it drove me away from them and I returned to Linux and X Windows. Windows may have looked fancy, but it wasn't productive for me, when I opened a shell I felt like I was stuck in a small pond, compared to the sea of options available in a Linux shell.
We have an Oracle contract, but I still prefer MySQL. It is quick and easy to develop in. A whole lot easier to setup than Oracle. Security patches are included with my distro (if you've ever patched an oracle box you know what kind of pain that is.) I run a collection of websites with a 81GB MySQL database running at > 100 queries per second, it took some tuning but works perfectly on a 1 cpu box with 2GB of ram. 2GB of ram is a minimum for Oracle.
Not saying there is no reason to use Oracle, it has many nice features ( as an administrator, I love flashback ). But there are many reasons to use MySQL when Oracle is not needed.
I guess this is the first version of Netscape ever relased that is not cross platform. I've used netscape for a long, long time. I hate to see this happen to it, but I use firefox now anyway.
I have ran my own mail server on my comcast account for a couple years now. I have to use a different outgoing server for some mail, since some servers won't accept mail from a cable modem. But I think we should be able to at least receive mail. Besides my comcast account gets about 10-20 spam messages a day, but my domain I host gets none.
Our main firewall for our hosting company is a 2Ghz P4. We are not doing vpn, which would be the most resource intensive, but our T-3 line comes directly into it and we have a ton of firewall rules. There is never a load on the box, except when nimda hit:).
And with bridging you can have two transparent firewalls (no ips) that are redundant, using Spanning Tree Protocol. Pretty cool.
I'm just getting into astronomy, but it is pretty awesome. Although I use my computer to find things I want to look at:) Also I enjoy caving with friends, that's pretty non tech. Just make sure you have a map and a buddy to go along, it's easy to get turned around in there. Also I play softball for my church team, it gets me some exersize.
Some camcorders take up to 1,998 pictures to DVD. And some offer 1MegaPixel resolution. Like the Hitachi DZMV380A, Panasonic also has one, and Sony has one on the way. But battery life will be an issue. Of course I would think that would be a problem with a regular camera also. But since it records to DVD-RAM, you should be able to delete the ones you don't want to keep.
There's room on the bandwagon for another struggling company. I think it is great to have another contributor, that's what open source is about, everyone contributing. And if they can make a business marketing their Linux products that's great. Maybe they can bring better directory service and management to Linux.
I have my own domain, and give everyone a different email address on that domain. For example if I signed up with ebay it would be ebay@mydomain.com. This way I know who is giving out my address. I have had almost 0 spam messages since I've been doing this. And if one of the emails become contaminated, I just drop that mail for a while.
That's great, but you left out one line. Since AIM send messages in html format you will need to strip out the html tags. I have verified that this works, but be sure not to run commands that don't return because there is no ^c or ^z.
Exactly what keeps someone from scratching or polishing the barrel of their gun? Or steal someone elses? I don't believe this is the answer, I also don't believe gun control is the answer. Anyone can find ways to disrupt society with or without guns.
I bought an HP Omnibook 5700 CTX and it did the same thing. It cracked right above the left hinge. I now have a HP Omnibook XE3 no problems yet. I think that laptops are built a lot better now.
One quick solution would be to change your chair height, so that you can put both of you feet flat on the ground comfortably. This could be the reason you are slouching and need your feet proped up.
I agree that noone should be forced into any religion. But I sincearly wish that you would give it a chance before bashing Christianity. It is easy to get defensive and say you can't make me do that. All I ask is that you consider it fairly and not get upset because you think someone is forcing you to do something. Weather the people forcing you to do something are right or wrong you still have to answer for the consequences of your actions. There are bad apples in everything, so don't let that turn you away, there are many Christians that realize it is your choice to make.
Just for a minute consider, what if your wrong. I know I will fair a lot better if I'm wrong than you will if you are.
Come on some of the best coders are some of the worst writers. Give the guy a break! I have supported Ximian and I plan to support Mandrake, I love Linux and want to see it continue to thrive. If you are a real linux supporter then put your money where your mouth is.
If you have another computer you can just download all of the files instead of the iso, then share them via ftp, nfs, smb(they may have disabled this one). If you are running windows on your other machine, there are some ftp servers for windows. Otherwise if you have a large enough hard drive, copy all of the installation files to a partition on that drive, it should give you an option to read installation files from a partition. You may later use this partition for something else. Hope this helps.
The article said they used different sign up cards in those states, ie. no fine print on the card. So, I if I drove to California and signed up for the service would I be bound since I didn't sign a contract with fine print?
I was wondering, will they have this distribution on there ftp site? I know they have the evaluation version of 6.1, what is the evaulation version? No commercial apps, or is there some limited usage or what?

Just my humble opinion.

I was just wondering what the range on these things were? Unfortunatly there are a lot of hills and trees where I live.
