Boy that chart pretty much puts this into focus. Kinda turns my stomach. The impression I'm left with is they are trying to charge huge $um$ for these domains that don't really add much value. Neat little scheme, hope they loose everyting they own.

I'm confused by your comment and figure you meant the other way around. If a politician is not limited to one term, he is us for re-election eventually and so probably *does* care what the voters think of his performance once elected.
It's when a politician had only one term with no possibility of re-election where he/she shouldn't care what the voters think, right? This is always the argument I've heard against single-term laws, that gives them every incentive to say whatever they think will help them get elected, but then there is zero incentive to actually do anything remotely resembling what they claimed they would do once in office.

I don't disagree with this sentiment, and probably go so far as to agree wholeheartedly about individual speculative investors who may have bought M$ stock to make a profit without concern for their suspect business practices.
It's things like 401k and pension accounts and others that are managed on behalf of a group where I feel the most pity for those who could be hurt by a sharp(er) dip in the stock valuation. I'm lucky enough at my company where you have a coice of elections for different investment instruments, and I tried to steer clear of M$ as much as possible. Some are not as fortunate, I would imagine. My dad is on a pension that invests in funds like Franklin that have a lot of assets in M$ stock. I'll temper my enthusiasm for any victory against M$ with concern for how this could ripple down.

The phone itself is secondary to the service provider, though. A lot depends on how you plan to use the phone. There are 850Mhz cell providers like your Cell One's and Baby Bell's that offer either TDMA or CDMA digital in addition to AMPS Analog. The call quality of these technologies is inferior in my opinion to 1900 MHZ PCS service. Depending on where you live, you might have a choice of different providers using different technology. The difference will be one of national coverage. If you don't "roam" outside your local area, then just go with whoever has the best local coverage, rates and phones. If you plan on using the phone in other cities, you want to make sure your provider has coverage agreements. AT&T wireless has a pretty well-established national coverage, they sell phones that operate on 1900Mhz IS-136 air interface, plus they have multi-mode capability so they can step down to 850 Mhz TDMA or even AMPS if you roam in a city that doesn't have decent PCS coverage.
I dunno, when I read it, sounded more like not all the rooms are even wired. Not "would you like Ethernet, Cable TV and Air Cond? $24.95 please". They may not have had a choice in getting a room with a hookup, they may have been willing to pay the fee, but no rooms were available? So they did a little creative wiring to correct the situation.
