Goodie, you know a new term/acronym; you're still not a badass.

  4. Chocolate & Sugar Work on 3D Printers Making Inroads In Kitchens · · Score: 2

Of course, the dream would be able to 3D print chocolate/sugar sculptures, but I've been seriously considering how feasible it would be to create custom chocolate/sugar molds to create things like eggs, etc that go beyond what we can get from the usual suppliers and without having to fork out a few grand for a one-off custom design elsewhere. A couple paying jobs and I imagine a 3D printer would pay for itself for this particular aspect of my interests. :)

Damn right. I bought some tech books on my kindle and ended up buying the dead trees because I just can't get into poorly sized pictures (usually code blocks, etc) and what not. Granted, I don't buy any more dead tree *fiction* and love my ereader for that. I still prefer magazines over digital ezines (I subscribe to Interzone, for example, vs buying the e-version), too, and part of that is because I still like reading the ads.

    Several ways:
Selling sheet music (trivially easy to copy today, same problems with music)
Contract work (see movie scores today)
    Spec writing

The Digital Revolution + The Internet has pretty much destroyed 1 and 3, and 2 has always been one of those limited fields where a few people do exceptionally well (see Danny Elfman, for example), but it takes a certain mindset to do this sort of work. Like session musicians who only play other people's music for commercials and the like, it's not really a gig I want nor desire. And then, people like Amanda fucking Palmer think musicians should play for free. So, free music, free performances, fuck it, let's all just suck dicks on the corner for guitar strings, but I think they'd want that for free, too.

Yes and no. I used to deliver pizzas for extra money back in the day and we certainly knew the neighborhoods where people generally tipped and the neighborhoods where people generally didn't. I was always polite, courteous, and never malicious towards the non-tippers, unless you were an *asshole* non-tipper. Don't want to tip? That's great, don't tip, let me get on my way to the customers who *do* tip. Don't pull out $15 in nickels, dimes, and pennies and just shove them at me and berate me because your pizza is 30 minutes "late" (even though you ordered 20 minutes ago..and I was the guy who took your fucking order and you were closest to the store and I wanted to get it over with), demanding to talk to my manager trying to scam a free pizza out of me. I like to give everyone the benefit of doubt and everyone has a bad day, but constant assholery gets a nice coded comment in your customer file (see comcast, but with less obviousness..).

And finally, once the FBI is there, knocking down your door (metaphorically speaking), you're pretty much fucked. The investigation that led them to you is probably more than enough to indict you and probably get the conviction, and refusing to turn over your keys once they already have you pinned down will be viewed as contempt of court and you'll sit in prison for a long damned time without a trial. This is why, from what I can tell, the defense is mainly focused on the procedure/evidence that led the FBI to him (poisoning the well) since if they can't give a good accounting for how they connected him to the SR, then all that evidence is for nothing if they used illegal techniques to get it.
