  1. Wonder what this will do for the movies on Marvel's New Thor Will Be a Woman · · Score: 1

The Thor films seem to have a lot of appeal for my wife and female friends, partly due to beefcake. I wonder how much confusion this will cause between the comics and movies.

  2. What are her Strengths? on Ask Slashdot: Future-Proof Jobs? · · Score: 1

What sorts of things is she good at? It doesn't help to recommend a sysadmin position if she isn't detail-orientated.

  3. Robots on Netflix Is Looking To Pay Someone To Watch Netflix All Day · · Score: 1

They probably don't allow you to make a couple of robots out of spare parts so you can mock the films you are ebing forced to watch, to retain your sanity.

  4. Wife on Duolingo is a Free, Crowdsourced Language Learning App (Video) · · Score: 2

My wife loves this app. I have no idea if she's actually learned anything using it, but for a while she was putting in a couple of hours every day with the language lessons.

  5. PoE for Lighting on Philips Ethernet-Powered Lighting Transmits Data To Mobile Devices Via Light · · Score: 1

I'm not that excited about the IP information being sent by the lights. Kind of cool, but I think it's an application waiting for a use. Using Power over Ethernet for the lights themselves is pretty damn cool. Easier to set up lights (you only need a CAT5 cable, instead of electircal cabling, etc), and, assuming your switch has a good enough UPS on it, you can have lighting that will stay up during a power outage.

  7. Complexity on Nathan Myhrvold's Recipe For a Better Oven · · Score: 1

This all sounds way too complex for an oven. Lots of moving parts in a high heat area sounds like a recipe for failure (HA!) Things I'd like to see: Faster warm up time for the oven More even heating throughout the oven

If you don't trust your doctor, why do you go to him or her? They need access to sensitive information about you to properly diagnose issues, and to spot trends. Do you refuse to answer the questions they ask prior to every visit? Do you hold back family history of illness? Well then, good luck on catching something before it kills you.

  19. Can help plastic recycling on Continuous System For Converting Waste Plastics Into Crude Oil · · Score: 1

It seems like one of the biggest issues with recycling plastics is all the different types, and each type having a different method to get back into a usable form. I see this as being really useful for breaking down big mixtures of plastic, where it would be too costly to sort them out. I wouldn't even use the oil for fuel, make more plastics! Really, plastics has me more wrried about oil consumption in th elong-run, than the fuel usage itself.

Not going to be much help, since Golden age Comics is a specialized market.... Check out the EC comics, especially "Tales From the Crypt" and "Weird Tales" These are the comics that caused the comic book code to be put in place. I also liked the little bit of plastic man I read. ++ on Tintin, although I wouldn't think of it as Golden age per-se. Still worth reading. Finally, check out your local library. Mine at least has a large collection of graphic novels. Could help you save some money.
