There is another side to it though, the shady deals made post 1971 US bankruptcy are being broken down which means in order to maintain solvency of US finances they have to put something in their place or the government closes its doors, in this case it is corporate espionage and if they are to step back from that which they can't it all comes down. These are the final stages of collapse of the US, they don't have a way to play it straight even if they knew how.

Fat chance on that, this country hasn't done anything really the right way since they whacked JFK and killed his original space program. Furthermore I highly doubt that the Mars gig is actually going to happen, aerospace is being privatized and this means corporations cutting corners, and that trip I sure as shit wouldn't want to buy a ticket for nor would I get on a craft at gunpoint. After they have actually reliably created airplane style access to space to reliably test zero G propulsion systems and have a working solution, then space travel might be within reach, the reality is things have only gotten worse for that. I'd wager the Russky's will do it first, the world will have to get past that thing of wanting to use the He3 on the moon for nukes rather than zero G propulsion systems.

Because nobody wants to piss off military force, that being the NSA because they will be put out of business and they know it. Already to many security related businesses that actually conceptually cared about security has had to shut down as a result of fear of previous interpretations of the law made by these military forces. They are going to get it because it is the desire of those in power, CIA analysts have come forward now stating that the "3rd world depression is no longer avoidable". I think world depression is a bit on the dramatic side though, I think the rest of the world is likely to contain it to the US/UK. Rusky/China have been getting cozy for a while now and getting in good with Saudi for oil and our dumb ass's keep printing money to keep the gubbmints doors open stressing the Saudi deal dating back to '71.
