I use Chrome on Windows 10 90% of the time and I can't recall ever getting a notification like that. Perhaps there's an option somewhere to disable it?
Thank you. I understand that evoking images of giant floating trash islands may help bring attention to the issue. But it is blatantly misleading and may be doing more harm than good. The pictures in TFA show mounds of trash... but always on the deck of a boat, or piled up neatly next to the podium at a press conference. At least show a picture of the area and explain "The water looks normal at first glance, but in this area are xx tons of plastic waste." Otherwise people are going to be suspicious about the conspicuous lack of photos of this "Giant collection of fishing nets, plastic containers and other discarded items" as described in TFA.
In my city the police have an agreement with many downtown businesses to monitor their security cameras live. I once toured their "command center" where the walls are lined with dozens of monitors showing video feeds from all over the city. The room is staffed 24/7 365 days a year. One of the workers who monitor the cameras (among other duties) remarked that they were essentially useless. The city never bothered to label them, so no one knew where any of the cameras were located.
It's true that the firmware would be limited to a specific device, and the precedent is far more dangerous than the code itself. However no system is perfect. There is at least some chance that some exploit could be derived from the custom firmware that helps break the security of other devices. A (not perfect) analogy would be giving out the combination to your home safe because, since your doors are locked, you assume no one will get a chance to access the safe.

You have two password options to choose from with paid and in-app purchases:
Always Require: When you make a purchase, you'll always be asked to enter your password, even if you're signed in with your Apple ID.
Require After 15 Minutes: When you make a purchase, you'll be asked to enter your password only every 15 minutes.
You can turn off password protection for free items on your iOS device or computer if you don't want to enter your password when downloading free songs or apps, but you can't completely turn off password protection for paid items.

As much as I love the old seasons, we're not just trying to make an "MST3K reunion episode." Even if we do get our entire old cast and staff to come help out, I think it's important – essential– that we bring in new talent to keep the show fresh, and to help it evolve.
I was hesitant about having a new cast as well, but his answers sold me on the idea.
Licensing was one of the biggest hurdles of the original show. They had to buy licenses for every movie for the episodes that aired on the Sci-Fi channel and Comedy Central. Some episodes have never been released on disc because of licensing restrictions. There were also plenty of movies that they never riffed because the owners refused to license it at all, or set a prohibitively high price (we're talking decades-old, low budget movies).
That is why Rifftrax was the most ingenious solution to the licensing issues. Created by the cast and writers of the later episodes of MST3K- they sell a stand-alone audio track of the riffs. This circumvents the licensing issues entirely and even lets them do new releases which would have been impossible in the original show. The downside is that you need to have your own copy of the movie and follow the instructions, or use the free app they provide, to sync the audio from the riff track to the movie. It's pretty easy, but the extra steps probably turn some people off.
Personal (non DEP) devices can have Mobile Device Management installed on them. It is common for companies who let employees bring their own devices. The only difference is that DEP devices can do it automatically over the air rather than needing to go to a website or sign into an account to set it up. https://www.apple.com/business/dep/
That is correct for Apps. But a configuration profile can be downloaded from a website or sent by a mail server when you try to log in to it. The user would need to accept it and enter the devices passcode, but no Apple ID is needed. iPhone User Guide: iPhone in Business
My former college did a study and found that most students had terrible critical thinking skills. Their solution was to make every class show a four-minute youtube video about critical thinking. I was taking 5 courses so I had to watch it 5 times. It was hilarious and sad that they believed they could improve critical thinking by applying the same repetition and rote memorization which caused the problem in the first place. It is indicative of how the education system is not capable of teaching critical thinking.
Or even better: Get a new contract and a new phone, fix the old one for $100, then sell it for $200+. Now she has a brand new phone which cost (as little as) nothing, the same bill she always had, and enough cash to cover several months of service.
P.S. Sorry, meant to mod up but I hit the wrong button.
Internal websites/apps that only work in one browser are understandable. I am baffled by the numerous public-facing government websites that, to this day, only work in IE. I haven't seen a non-government site do that since, I don't know, early 2000's maybe?
That would be a fair solution, but the benefit would be mostly spiritual. Even if Google wanted to include such a feature I suspect it would be utilized so little that it would be hard to justify maintaining it. I like to use the paid ad-free version of any apps I use a lot.
But once you hit that "disable all ads" button, plan on a spending an afternoon buying the upgrade versions of your main apps. Then even more time searching for alternatives for the ones that don't have an ad-free version at all. Then learning to use the new apps you had to switch to. After that expect an unending process of upgrading apps and (probably more annoyingly) dealing with all the apps that are just broken by blocking adds.
A more practical option could be, as much as I hate to say it, a subscription service for your Google Play account. Pay an arbitrary monthly amount to disable adds in ALL apps purchased from your account. Apps you use get a cut of the subscription you pay.
It is tragic what happened to your sister-in-law and our hearts go out to all of you. There road ahead may be long and difficult, but there is hope for improving the situation. The technology has not been perfected. But there are solutions that work even today and steady progress is being made.
You can even here the distinctive radio interference GSM phones make at about 2:26. Whenever my clock radio makes that sound I know I'm about to get a text message.
I did this as an IT guy for a small ~150 employee company. Even without imaging or client management software it is trivial. Just put executables on a network drive and run an install script with the 1 or 2 command line switches for each installer.
I think the same. Accordingly, math teachers may not teach as well because they are the select few who naturally understand and enjoy the subject. Most of their students have a very different perspective.
You can get a master lock combination trigger lock for $13
Or for free from many local police stations, or from many retails when you purchase the gun.

Did not RTFA. I'll just stick with the headline and assume I'm all good from here. Cough cough
The end result would be lots of people blowing each other up after accidentally switching phones at a party.

Speak for yourself. All of my exhibitionist dick pics have the signs for the nearest cross-road in the background. How could I have known!?
