Yeah, Files for Ejaculatory Declaration (aka Pr0n) is a much more widespread technology. I wouldn't particularly want to see what IBM creates in this area, though. It gives 'Big Blue' a scary connotation.

Actually, as staff, you rank pretty low. If a professor says, "I need it soon", it means "Do it now". If a grad student says, "I need it soon", it means, "Do it soon, or I'll tell my prof you're holding me up". Of course, if an undergrad says, "I need it soon", the proper response is to hand him/her 50 forms to fill out and get signed.

Zones differ from jails in that you can limit the amount of resources a zone can consume. Even in jail you can launch a denial of service with a fork() bomb or busy loop, or even netcat. With zones, you can limit the amount of cpu cycles, network io, and (perhaps? don't have docs nearby) disk and serial io. Plus zones get their "own" virtual os, so you can reboot them.

If the 1 GB Via board + CPU is ~$170 (retail), you cannot put it into a product that costs less than ~$170, can you? There are scores of consumer electronic devices in the under $200/range. The next big thing is figuring out which ones can be mostly implemented in software, on commodity (or at least high-volume) hardware. What about a $99 DVD player that also plays internet radio? Or a cable set top box that can print photos from your digital camera?

  17. Windows on Mobile Phones that Sync w/ PIM Software? · · Score: 1

Most brands of phone have something. On the MS Windows side, look at TrueSync from Starfish Software, which works with many Motorola phones. Siemens phones have a version of XTNDConnect pc as a free download; high end Nokias had (have?) a PC data suite; there is also a generic version of software from SnapSync (available at CompUSA, among other places). The software appears to run about $30, then you get to spend another $30 for a cable (don't know if the sw supports IRDA or Bluetooth). Pick a phone you are interested in, then google for "brand + pc + synchronize".
