I'm more inlined to believe that this is likely at&t's doing not Apple. at&t charges extra for tethering on other phones and since the iPhone has a special plan for data, they don't want iPhone users going nuts on the 3G network and affecting the percieved speed of the network.
At&t (as well as the other 3 major US Cariers) have been known to intentionally cripple phones so that users can't take full advantage of the features.
In addition, when selecting one, make sure you buy a properly rated VA for your setup. A UPS will not save you if you have too many devices hooked up that draw more power than the battery can provide.
You are crazy. How do you know that these Shady homebrew Operating systems don't contain a trojan, rootkit, or even a keylogger? And remember that not all of these are detectable by AV and Anti-spyware utils.
... They need to start thinking Windows needs not be a one size fits all approach. Why can I not install the most basic framework of the OS and DX in order to utilize all available resources of my rig?...
What you are reffering to is called an Xbox 360. I'm not saying that it's right, but it seems like that is the direction MS is taking games in.
Where do you people who telecommute work? I've worked in few places that depite my having VPN access (b/c I manage systems) there is strict policy of "No working from home." And I don't know anyone personally who works from home.
Since you didn't mention it, based on your account, I'm guessing that are running with with 512MB of RAM (or less.) or you have Spyware loading up somewhere.
My AthlonXP 3200 2.2Ghz w/ 1GB of ram boots XP in a little over 1 minute, from a cold boot.
Yeah, but you'd have to divert some power from Warp core and channel it through the Main deflector which could cause a cascade reaction can fry the array.
I'm glad I chose Bitdefender as my AV scanner. Which the article states did very well. (not perfect) I it use on my Windows machines and I've been very pleased with it.
I recommend it to anyone who asks, as it's very resource friendly unlike McCaffe and Norton.
Indeed. You're not legal if you buy a copy of Leopard. It shouldn't let you sleep any better, as you're still breaking the law. You need to be more precise. Installing a paid-for copy of leopard on non-apple HW *is not* breaking any law. AFAIK, There's no law on the books anywhere that that says this particular action is illegal. At worse, you are breaking the EULA which is simply a contract; Which is a civil matter. The worst that could happen is that apple extracts some kind of payment from you if they can somehow prove to a judge that they lost money from you breaking the terms of the Eula.
If it was against the law to install Mac OS on non-apple HW, then some Law enforcement agency somewhere could bust you for it. And likely will not happen.
It's funny that to fix Microsoft Windows, it's faster to just wipe and re-install from scratch rather than try to fix the issue.
I always wonder, how did this become an acceptable state of affairs in IT?
The dominant OS in the world easiest way to fix is by re-installing!! Just seems weird, and describes yet another problem with the computer industry. Don't blame the Industry, Blame the product.
I have used pre-lenovo T-20, T23, T-30, and T-40 notebooks. I own a Lenovo T43p and a T60p. up until the T60p, I've seen no change in build quality.
For me, The Keyboard is what makes or breaks a laptop for me. All of the T-series laptops I've used have all had superb Keyboards. Now my gripe is that the current Lenovo models aren't made w/ 4:3 aspect ratio screens (to get the size of the notebook down,) but that's a topic for another thread.:-)/siting here typing this on a crappy HP/compaq nc6400 provided by my current employer.
But you still haven't answered my question. What would migrate to that according to you, is cheaper? The only other player making sparc H/W is fujistu. last I looked, they didn't do anything special that sun couldn't do.
Sun needs to step up and show some serious production level ZFS support if they want to keep us Solaris admins from defecting away from Sun hardware.
This statement ignores the fact that there are number of commercial applications that run only on Sparc based Solaris systems. What H/W exactly would you migrate to?
ZFS boot is coming it's in Opensolaris right now. Barring any major problems, it will be in Solaris 11.
What the parent is refering to is the Carterphone Rules for Telephone. I also want to state that there is no Carterphone Rule equivalent for Cell Phones and Cable which is why we have the nickel and dime/rental situation we have now. I for one believe that there should be such a rule.
Why not just buy a Mac notebook, put Linux on it, and have the best of both worlds? You get the reliable Apple hardware, and the OS that matches your development environment?
Oh boy, here we go again... Apple hardware is no more (or less) reliable than any other PC H/W from Dell,HP, et al.... All that the additional cost buys you is a Shiny/Glossy box and a Shiny/Glossy OS.
The European i600 is not the same device as the North American i607 "Blackjack." In addition to having Wifi radio ripped out (at the request of at&t,) the i607 is different enough that any attempts as flashing the i600 ROM on the i607 will brick the phone.
Also people are really good at remembering the hits and forgetting the misses, if he ever actually gets one right that's all you're going to hear about him, not the hundreds of things he's been wrong on.

The blue is a feature. It has a calming effect...
I heard taupe is very soothing.

Bring Steam over and port over some of the more popular games, like the Orange box and I'm there.
(Likely Won't happen (ever), but I can dream...)
I'm holding off a Mac purchase until I see what gets a refresh at the WWDC.
My Favorite is Cut and Shoot, TX.

Please start a project for this on Sourgeforge! I'll gladly run this....

I've seen various degrees breakage on Macs.
Seconded. TF2 is awesome and I'm hurt that no has mentioned it up until now.

You should also put US and Canada in the GSM list because GSM is widespread there too.

Don't be ashamed, a four digit UID is something to be proud of. :-)
